SAL proudly presents our 2024 Lunar New Year Compilation, featuring a stellar lineup of artists including Kim Ann Foxman, Cora, Why Be, Soda Plains, River Moon, Ennio, and label founder Lawrence Lee. 🧧🐉🌟

The overarching theme that unites this compilation is the sense of nostalgia surrounding familial and ancestral connections 🪷🏞️. This theme holds a special resonance for many of us—some of whom experience it firsthand through their roots and homelands, while others grasp and feel it through the stories passed down to them. We’ve kept this theme open, allowing each artist the freedom to interpret and incorporate it into their music.

At the heart of SAL is our vibrant and supportive community, and this compilation serves to cultivate and share that sense of togetherness 🤲. We’ve brought together artists from diverse backgrounds across East and Southeast Asia, not only calling on close friends and collaborators but also forging new connections with talented individuals.

Next up on Allergy Season, a sure fire mend for any auditory cuts and scrapes left by mediocre club tracks: "OOF" by Alex Falk. 5 cool, complex techno explorations by the Knoxville-based producer and DJ. 

Falk first made his mark in techno during the early twenty-teens with appearances on a tightly knit group of Southeastern US labels including Proper Trax and CGI Records. Born and raised well outside the established bases for electronic music in the Northeast and the Midwest, Falk absorbed the sounds of Miami bass and electro compilations that occasionally made their way to local CD stores. Falk eventually discovered the world of forest raves and Goa Trance that flourished in nearby Asheville, North Carolina. The scene was a bastion of weirdo electronic music that thrived just as raves began to lose hold in cities across the region. Falk eventually moved on from the Trance sphere and focused his energies back home in Knoxville, founding the TEKNOX party series with a group of friends. 7 years of hard work and forward thinking booking allowed the party and the scene in Knoxville to grow, connecting with like minds throughout the Southeast and becoming part of a grassroots revival of underground dance music throughout the US. 

On his first EP for Allergy Season, Falk processes synthetic sounds until they take on near organic texture, creating hypnotic and psychedelic tracks that deftly bang. Opener "OOF" is a broken-beat techno opus awash in evolving synth tones and skittering stereo hi-hats. "Self" counters with a hooky vocal samples and an upbeat 909 pump. In the center of the EP "Lift" and "Mark" move deeper into the wormhole, painting intricate detail on surging rhythms. Falk closes with "MUU", an oceanic techno track that hits with wave after wave of interwoven melody until the tension releases with a head-spinning pad.

French DJ and producer Leo Pol has unveiled his new EP ‘Warehouse 014’, out 11th September on Mella Dee’s Warehouse Music label.  A four-track release, ‘Warehouse 014’ opens with ‘Priviet’, a raw, high-energy house jam that pairs pounding kick drums with sparse piano samples. Next up, ‘Xeniouski’ and ‘You Know What I Want’ see Leo Pol delve into the world of electro, before the pumping acid house of ‘A Base De Kush’ closes things out.
