The mighty DJ Godfather is back with a brand-new album. And if you thought last year's 'Electro Beats For Freaks' was a bombshell you'll be blown away by 'This Detroit Thing Of Ours'.

Once again DJ Godfather (Brian Jeffries) breaks all the rules. The album features 46 tracks and like his last album, they segue into one another, until the series of EPs on vinyl (and digital) which will follow featuring full-length versions and different mixes of some of the album's tracks.

DJ Godfather (Brian Jeffries) is one of the founding fathers of the Detroit Ghetto Tech scene but has gone on to be so much more over a career that spans almost 3 decades. For those wanting an insight into Ghetto Tech, head to track 38, 'It's Ghetto Tech' featuring Dan Diamond which draws a line under the many questions posed to Godfather over the years about the genre. The album also includes three scratch tracks, '1200's Are Lit', 'Table Terrorist' and the even more aptly named 'Assassin On The Decks' as this king of turntablism keeps the culture alive. The album throws up even more variety with Electro, Techno and House beats making an appearance alongside collaborations with DJ Deeon, Goodmoney G100, King Saaidi, Gettoblaster & Missy, Lil Mz 313, Ricky Burns, JPE, Parkhouse and (as already mentioned) Dan Diamond.

Deliberately raw and unpolished, deep down and dirty, it's 'This Detroit Thing Of Ours'.

Get Physical's Roland Leesker returns to the label with a storytelling new single that comes with a remix from Confidential Recipe. 

This is Leesker's second outing on the label this year after February's timeless 'Haus Musik' package. That was the latest in a small but carefully curated series of releases from the artist who has seen recent remixes from Scan7, Terrence Parker and Francesco Tristano and never fails to infuse classic sounds with new school ideas. 

This new single is informed by a Japanese legend of the Heian Period in the late 10th century. Ibaraki-doji, a notorious Oni, resided at Rashomon Gate in Kyoto and harassed people who tried to pass through the gate until a heroic samurai named Watanabe no Tsuna subdued the creature. The battle raged on until Tsuna drew his katana and severed the arm of the demon. A few days later, an elderly woman claiming to be Tsuna's aunt came to visit him and asked her nephew to recount how he fought with the oni. Tsuna mentioned that he had Ibaraki-doji's severed arm in his possession and his aunt was curious to see it. When he revealed the arm, his aunt unveiled herself as Ibaraki-doji in disguise. She grabbed the arm and escaped from Tsuna's mansion. However, even after retrieving the arm, Ibaraki-doji never returned to dwell at Rashomon Gate again. 

The 'The Demon at Rashomon' single musically depicts this tale and comes with epic artwork that brings the story visually to life courtesy of Rio based artist Paula Lles. The record has a body-popping, electro-infused and breakbeat-driven groove that will fire up any dance floor. The bass is big and powerful and the turbulent synths, acid squelches and yelping vocals all bring a battle-ready vibe. It makes for a unique and high-impact tune from Leesker who once again co-produced this with Neil Barber at Hot Kitchen Studios in Berlin. 

Venezuela's pioneering rave ambassador Confidential Recipe remixes and brings with him a fresh mix of tech, electro and house. He has landed on labels like Rekids and RSPX and shows why here. His take is a warm, big and bouncy acid cut with silky drums and vocal yelps adding extra intensity to the groove.

For our 38th release we're happy to present formerly unreleased studio material from 1996, that we found hidden deep in Jan's and Alex’s vaults. The four dubbed-out tunes were part of a row of session recordings, done by the guys in autumn that year. They share a free minimal spirit and were recorded with a limited and beautiful sounding analog setup in a small room in a Berlin backyard.
 
The uptempo “Sinter” is a mesmerising, puristic Electro piece, the never-ending “Karst” more on the Techno side, featuring wild, flanged percussions and an extremely driving baseline. “Stalaktit" & “Stalagmit”, both slower, are nicely oblique, industrial, obscure but sometimes almost funky analog jams.

C Powers (Cecilia Powers) promotes the power of community organizing in many facets of her life. She’s an interstellar producer and DJ as well as an active tenants’ rights activist in Portland, Oregon. Intersectionality is at the core of Cecilia’s perspective as a trans woman and is reflected in her organizing practices and her musical activities. Whether planning actions against unethical landlords with tenants & regularly hosting solidarity benefit parties in Portland, or fostering safe dancing spaces with her queer family when she lived in Savannah GA, Cecilia has found ways to expand upon the notion of a “community in motion”. She has released on Sorry Records, Sweat Equity, CGI Records, Proper Trax, and Niche N Bump to name a few.


This EP is four cuts of C Powers’ signature touch applied to a hybrid blend of electro, breaks, and bass. There’s high-octane energy as well as a power in the spaces between. These four tracks balance “maximum” and “minimum” and will slap the fascism right out of any environment they’re dropped in.
