Newly minted label Psychic Relief poses up and flexes shamelessly with its inaugural release Muscles Hug Your Bones, a brawny EP of swirling technoid psychedelia, muscular bass-weight, and unabashed sentimentality by Philadelphia-based rave rascal Furtive. 

Bringing things into motion is Convoke, an impellant, rippling track opening with a stalwart kick and shifting, auroric sheets of harmonics. This densely textured wormhole slinker isn’t ostentatious, but its unrelenting progression and deliberate percussive maneuvers will command feet to move, summoning dancefloor supplicants toward pulsing speaker stacks.   

The EP’s title track punches in with a crunchy, energizing bounce - primed to bring packed rooms into full, rocking swing. The immediacy of its peppy, rambunctious groove and rolling, skittering percussion is bound to start frothing things up… and the acid line hasn’t even come in! Once that rippling squelch starts bubbling up, the frenzy of this sweaty, muscular weapon simply has to be felt - it’s a proper belter, while also perfectly arranged for slick and easy playback. Muscles has been play-tested in many packed rooms, and it always does the trick! 

Flipped over to the over side is the crooked drum and bass roller I Always Try To Be This Gentle. Rising out of a gauzy synth sweep come rattling, low-slung bass movements. With precise, tickling percussive hits draped in shifting, foggy textural shrouds, this trippy, higher-tempo track toes the line between enticement and unease with uncanny confidence. 

Closing out the EP is a warmly glowing, meandering, wide-eyed paean to a certain romantic audacity. Furtive is a full-gonzo rave conjurer and relentless creative tinkerer, intractably committed to the rave as a producer, DJ, underground event organizer, and dancer. Furtive brings a scintillating and sentimental touch to their many polished and focused genre-spanning productions, informed by over a decade of experience in the studio and yielding a rich selection of self-released tracks, contributions to VA comps, and recent vinyl pressings.

Correspondants 28th release, Polina, delivers another brooding, evocative EP for the label, this time from the Agents of Time polyhedron: a fusion of ideas and concepts that make up a single reality. The Italian trio of Andrea Di Ceglie, Fedele Ladisa, and Luigi Tutolo came together in the summer of 2013, and their inaugural album was released via Stem Records in January of the following year. The group uses both analog and digital equipment to refine their unique amalgam of progressive, techno, and ambient music.

Hospital Records proudly present the dancehall and 174BPM legend Doktor’s second single on the south London imprint - ‘Love’, featuring a stunning vocal performance from Qyor and production from next-generation drum and bass powerhouses Sudley and [IVY]. Following on from the successes of ‘Why You Waiting?’, Doktor’s first standalone single on Hospital, the energy-fuelled bouncer featuring Serum and Agent Sasco racked up countless plays on the airwaves from tastemakers including DJ Target, Jeremiah Asiamah, Fred V & more. Drenched in summer-infused euphoria, ‘Love’ is an uplifting drum & bass anthem as Doktor and Qyor toast to the trials and tribulations of love that can “build you or break you”.
