Born from a mutual admiration of the groove ethic of 90s house music, Primitive Needs is the collaborative project of Melbourne locals Matt Stringfellow and Jackson Gray. Whilst staying true to their formative influences, the new project channels a natural progression towards late night club ready sounds, aided and abetted by an influx of new hardware and time in isolation. The dj and production duo step up with their debut "Phase Unity" for DAD008 displaying an array of house & breakbeat across the board.

DJ duo Primitive Needs take their name from a tongue in cheek nod to the low-tech/high-art club-centric productions of yesteryear, which the duo pay homage to in their releases and behind the decks. 

Having showcased their wealth of influences with releases on Craigie Knowes, R.A.N.D Muzik and Naarm’s own DMO, the pair present themselves as both genre-spanners and DJ tools; wrenching every last drop of 90s nostalgia from their moderately priced hardware.
