In a book and several widely read newspaper articles, the English journalist David Goodhart has identified a new cause for the vicious populism of our time. Le Pen, Brexit, Trump, the online hate culture - according to Goodhart, two new "meta-classes" (the "Anywheres" and the "Somewheres") have emerged in the global world, two completely different ways of living and feeling. According to Goodhart, these separate cultures are now competing against each other in a kind of new world culture war.
