Break Through was definitely influenced by the work of Hans Zimmer and Ludovico Einaudi. Yes, I wanted to make something big and I wanted each sound to have substance, to take the listener on an emotional journey of discovery. This meant working outside of my comfort zone again. 8 sound files later and here is the final product. The piece features: 

Violin
Double Bass
String Ensemble playing tremolo
x5 Synth files which includes a boom, kick, pulse warp, dusky sweep and a metalink

You will hear forward motion in the music with a sense of arrival and resolution.

Sometimes, we don't want someone from our past back- we acknowledge that it is over, but from time to time, we can't help but wonder if they ever think about us. Not sure if it's the ego at play in such instances, or just nostalgia (or both lol) but I believe that it's a sentiment that anyone who has ever lost someone (whether it's an ex lover or friend) can relate to. I put my heart into this and I hope it resonates with you and the world at large :)

Seven very talented young composers of today made an interdisciplinary program in Muziekgebouw aan ‘t IJ working together with the Nieuw Ensemble, as well as various artists, from an actress to a jazz singer. Brand-new compositions, a sound sculpture, music-theater, were all presented in the Great Hall, offering to the audience an exciting glimpse of 2014′s new music scene.
