Sydney club-kid James Pepper has delivered his first instalment of CLUB TRAX, featuring 4 house-heavy originals which are ready and designated for dance floors. 

James’ first instalment of Club Trax sees him introduce 4 driving house cuts - full of power,  warmth and euphoria, giving us an insight into the inspirations that have surrounded JP’s upbringing within the dance music community. Through using his “less is more” approach, we are enriched by four tracks that are hosted by simple yet effective elements that make up a powerful EP full of club originals, which are suitable to be played on large systems in big dance-halls, as well as within the smaller-scale, intimate environments.

The epitome of James’s introduction to the world of dance music came after he unleashed his club-hit Three Drops during the broadcasting of his debut Boiler Room in his home-town, Sydney. Co-written by Black Loops, James would return to his home away from home and visit his old friend Black Loops (Riccardo) in Berlin, where he would begin writing his Club Trax EP. James would begin the creative process Riccardo’s studio while he was away touring throughout the European summer. James began to fall in love with the studio’s  hardware offerings, and in particular - Riccardo’s Roland MC909. The prominent early 2000s groovebox would become the centre piece of production work that makes up the Club Trax EP. 

After returning home to Sydney, JP’s first order of business was to purchase a second hand MC909 from Japan, and begin finishing what he has started in Berlin. With tracks Zwarte Pad & Praise You being an ode to the sound he holds dearest, James attempted to recreate the prominent 90s club-record sound, whilst also offering his own input in the process. 

The remainder of the EP sees tracks Residential Advisor & EVERYONE I LOVE give us an insight into a more new-school era, potentially alluding us to where James could be heading next - whilst also keeping it true to this heavily referenced 90s sound. 


After understanding JPs love for dance music and the influences that got him to where he is today, it will be exciting to hear and see the reactions of this club-record on dance-floors across the world. No frills, just straight forward dance classics & driving house hits, as James Pepper delivers his first instalment of CLUB TRAX VOLUME ONE.

Sex tapes from Mars’ third release comes in the form of 4 joyous hits of euphoria courtesy of Australian party-starter, Aldonna.

Angel Numbers excitedly bounces and bounds through its tracklist and the numerous blissed-out grooves within it. The EP kicks off with the psychedelic, poem-sampling ‘Divine Time’ before switching to the driving rhythms and glistening synths of ‘Ikigai’ (featuring Sam Alfred).

On the B-side, Aldonna dedicates the airy keys and phasing delays of ‘Ella’ to a friend who encouraged her to keep on dreaming. Finally, Cromby takes ‘Divine Time’ and reduces it down to its raw elements for clubland functionality whilst still retaining the threads of the originals buoyant tonality.

A love letter to her friends and her self, this is progressive house music at its most hopeful.

This tastefully curated selection traverses the electronic spectrum in style. Polygonia opens with supple and trippy minimal on 'Cheeky Seduction' and things build through dubby, stripped-back analogue grooves from HCL, typically bright, jacked-up, and synth-heavy sounds from Massimiliano Pagliara on 'Distant Memory' and retro-future disco-house from Benjamin Fröhlich. CYRK's 'Fade 2 Gay' is a slow-motion and moody dark disco chugger before Gunce Aci picks it up with some skyward arps and slap-funk drums on 'Whatever It Takes.'

Elsewhere Zombie Affair, aka Zombies in Miami & Mystery Affair, offer the body-popping electro-disco of 'Girl, You Got Me', Panooc's 'Pellucid' is a throwback and sensual vocal house cut and Lydia Eisenblätter brings all out piano house joy to 'What Is Love' before the closer from Mala Ika is another celebratory cut full of hands in the air synths and joyous drums.

This compilation is not only an essential listen but also an essential project that highlights and supports the vital work undertaken by Queer Base. The artwork was created by label creative powerhouse Daniel Rajcsanyi, and the LP was mastered by Blackheadstudios.

Danny Wabbit returns to the forefront with Manic, a carefully crafted five track EP that serves as a visceral journey through the psychological spectrum of the dancefloor.

The EP opens with the unexpected: 'Fear Is Nothing But A Tool', a cinematic dubstep intro to set a dark, preparatory tone. It then ignites with the title track 'Manic', a hypnotic and powerful techno cut built to induce peak-time frenzy.

Stripping techno back to its raw essence, 'Severed' delivers a minimalist homage to the genre's warehouse roots. This raw intensity then gives way to the meditative groove of 'Breath Work', a track centered on calming, pulsating rhythms. The EP closes with the soulful and uplifting vibes of 'That One House Track', the perfect euphoric finale to a long night.
