Lake Ladoga has always been a source of inspiration for me-a place of breathtaking beauty, shimmering waters, and those fascinating stories of mysterious lights and UFO sightings. It felt only natural to channel all of that into Liquid.

This release is my way of blending the raw energy of nature with the pulse of psychedelic trance. Each track is a reflection of the lake’s essence, taking you through its depths while echoing the otherworldly phenomena that light up its skies.

I hope these beats ignite your senses and immerse you in the rhythm of the lake’s mysteries, just as it has done for me.

“Asylum of The Birds” emerged as the creation of something strange and different, with the motive of portraying the connection between the human and the natural in such a way as to sculpt this junction through the various sensations that a singular element can convey, an element portrayed by birds. This “asylum” is a chaotic, metaphorical and literal space, where nature and humanity collide in a disconcerting way with the intention of creating a place that seems to exist outside the norms of reality.
The speaker of this thought is Roger Ballen, and “Asylum of The Birds” is inspired by his surrealist documentary, known for its black and white photographs, which explore themes such as the grotesque, the surreal, the psychological and the existential, depicting claustrophobic scenarios and marginalized characters in strange environments, intertwining reality and fiction.
Like this sound composition, the documentary reflects an interest in exploring the unconscious and the dark aspects of the human psyche. The birds represent both freedom and restlessness, creating a complex metaphor for the characters' state of mind.
“Asylum of the Birds” is not only an exploration of sound, but also a philosophical reflection on the human condition, the limits of sanity and the role of art as a means of transcendence.

It's well over 3 years since Ben Warren made his first (and last) appearance on Cheeky with the uplifting hard houser 'This Feeling', so we're very happy to welcome him back with this long overdue follow up! He's brought even more of the bouncy hard house vibes with 'The Afterglow', a fun party starter which combines a very catchy rap hook and a cheeky riff to bring back memories of the early 2000s sound.
