One Tribe label-owner AMÉMÉ makes his debut production appearance on Crosstown Rebels next month with the three-track Drum Beat. The EP includes a remix by longstanding US house veteran Joeski, marking a major career achievement for the Benin born talent. 

AMÉMÉ spoke on how the release took shape, as well as what it represents in today’s world: “My latest EP Drum Beat is the perfect assemblage of past and present, as it blends elements of my musical roots with current day inspirations. Loca reaches into the Latin realm and on the other side is Drum Beat, which reflects the deep anchor of my upbringing in West African music. Together these tracks create an eclectic and energetic pairing that feel right at home on Crosstown Rebels.”

The Latin influence is experienced right from the word go on Loca, as Saharan-esque elements build alongside resonant hats and playful, Spanish-like vocals. Tribal percussion drifts in and out alongside, whilst whirring key solos feature subtly throughout. Drum Beat comes next, manifesting as a welcome slice of contemporary Afro house that’s packed full of raw instrumentals and authentic lyrical samples, before Joeski’s remix brings things to an up-tempo, club ready close.

Specialising in Afro-leaning electronic music, AMÉMÉ has marked himself as one of the continent’s breakthrough talents in recent years. Head of One Tribe, his productions have been supported by the pioneering figure of Black Coffee since 2019, whilst his appearances on Watergate Records, Blond:Ish’s Abracadabra imprint and the mighty MoBlack Records have been equally well-received, firmly establishing his presence as one of modern dance music’s rising stars.

Joeski’s trajectory can be traced back to 1991, when he burst onto the NYC house scene as a founding member of The Chocolate Factory DJ collective. Since then, the US veteran has garnered a worldwide following thanks to his Maya label, which was first incepted in 2001, as well his keen ear for production that has seen him release on Crosstown Rebels, Relief and a myriad of other heavyweight imprints in recent years.

One of the most exciting names in modern dance music, Eli Brown’s productions have graced Alan Fitzpatrick’s We Are The Brave, Chris Lake’s Black Book Records, and now Patrick Topping’s Trick. Continuing this streak of dancefloor weapons with ‘Rudeboi EP’, the Bristolian DJ/producer combines his wide-ranging influences into three hard-hitting rave cuts.

The title track sets the tone for the EP with rumbling bass drums and fast paced stabs offset by a classic jungle vocal. Continuing with the same energy, ‘Welcome To My House’ brings heavy four to the floor drops and squelchy, catchy acid lines. The final track ‘Don’t Think Much’ features an iconic monologue from Talk Show over a deep, hypnotic groove, closing out yet another anthemic EP.

London based Ghanaian DJ and producer Bluey makes his debut on the ABODE records imprint this May with his brand new single, 'Satisfaction'. Drawing inspiration from producers Solardo and Idris Elba and DJ's including Franky Knuckles and DJ EZ, Bluey puts an interesting spin on classic House and Tech House styles, perfectly balancing his club trained ear with his long-time love for producing. Since his debut in 2020, his releases have found homes on the likes of 7Wallce, Sola Nauts, Get Twisted and Sersa, alongside playing memorable club sets at some of the biggest venues across the globe including Privilege Ibiza, Ministry Of Sound, Ibiza Rocks and many more. 'Satisfaction' is a moody number enticing listeners with its melodic synth lines and hypnotic vocal chops throughout alongside intricate percussion, percolating rhythms and a rumbling low-end.
