LA-based R&B vocalist and songwriter India Shawn has spent the last 15 years writing songs for artists such as Monica, Solange and Chris Brown. Now, she steps more fully into her solo material. In this exclusive commentary, Shawn discusses the making of her latest track, “Kill Switch,” which she describes as a different kind of love song. It grew out of a phrase she heard in her head: “Anybody else but you.” “I know when something is right for me, and I know when something is really wrong for me,” she tells SoundCloud. “It feels good to be the one calling the shots.” Listen now.
