To mark their 20th year as a band, Mother Mother’s Ryan Guldemond explains the thinking behind their 10th album, ‘Nostalgia.’ “Love to Death” is a song they wrote way back in 2008, but never officially recorded in the studio. It’s the “2.0” version, Ryan says. “Finger” is another remake of an old song that’s guaranteed to elicit reactions. “Make Believe” is about magical thinking and altered consciousness, and “Station Wagon” is about a cosmic road trip that may or may not involve the afterlife. The whole project, the band says, was guided by their resolve to recapture a sense of childlike creativity.
