Renowned for crafting immersive soundscapes that transport listeners to ethereal realms, leapyear's artistry is a testament to a thriving passion. Growing up in Wisconsin, he connects with the dark aesthetic and harsh winter connections that dark ambient music embodies.

Beyond the solitary act of music creation, leapyear is deeply integrated within the community of ambient artists. Engaging with like-minded creators, he contributes to the ever-growing world of dark ambient music, fostering connections and pushing the boundaries of sonic exploration.

Leapyear takes inspiration and influences from the likes of ybyrayy, trapeia, mezh, hallow, sevenlies, pxlse, endless withdrawal and futureville, Øneheart and my head is empty.

Italian born, Berlin based Queimada debuts on Sound in Picture with a two track EP in collaboration with US photographer The Sweetest Hours. 
Queimada:
“Lorne” is the oldest track. They are actually several sound fragments I have created with different synthesisers, then joined together to form a simple and coherent resilient melody and harmony, which deteriorates more and more in the finale until it completely distorts its meaning. “Aprile” comes instead from several flute recordings I have taken. Then, I have reprocessed these recordings, bringing them to their extreme sonic limits, changing their texture and identity. It is fragile and powerful at the same time. 
Despite belonging to different periods and workflows, both tracks share a common intention—they represent an endpoint, a resolution reached after a long journey of overcoming obstacles and transformation.
Imagine raindrops falling, each one symbolising the challenges and storms encountered along the way in some people's stories. These journeys vary widely, shaped by countless imperceptible variables. They are long and winding paths, stretching toward the horizon like constellations in the night sky.
Much like high-velocity stars propelled by black holes, our journeys can sometimes feel propelled by forces beyond our control, flinging us into directions we never imagined.

Deep are very proud to present ‘Amethyst’ from label veteran Rowl. The single is the latest instalment for the forthcoming compilation Cosmic Vibrations Vol.5.

The production is a presentation of truly meditative sounds and frequencies that transport you into a dream world. Lots of analogue white noise on the top end that ease you down a few notches, while the Dub, bass and techno influences lace the track with some masterful touches. 

Many of you may remember Rowl’s debut on Smokin’ Sessions over ten years ago in 2011. Since then, Rowl has become a prominent artist on both Smokin' Sessions and Deep Heads roster, with a number of amazing releases under his belt. Classics like 'lunar', 'Jupiter', 'Thorey of one', and 'Solstice', all with Versa, are sure to bring back memories for our long-time fans. Rowl also graced us with his incredible EP ‘Asterism’ on Sessions recently.

With ‘Amethyst alongside a lineup of exceptional artists including Bonobo, TM Juke, Jon Kennedy, Tor, Zeb Samuels, Ødyzon, Synkro, and more, Cosmic Vibrations Vol. 5 is a compilation that should not be missed.
