Savi's Warbler (Locustella luscinioides; Rohrschwirl) sounds like a cricket. Here it performs with other birds and frogs at the Anklamer Stadtbruch, a swamp area and protected nature reserve with lots of waterfowl.
Recorded as MS stereo with Rycote HC-22 and DIY figure-8 mic into MixPre 6II.

Coming home one night from work at 2am, I could hear continuous 'rustling's' behind me as I walked through The Grange.
Eventually I stopped and turned around and waited; the temperature was about -3C; big leaves which were solid with frost, were falling from the trees.

Undisturbed by the lack of vehicles, they were lying in curled shapes on the ground. I got home and came back out with my recorder for this take at the bottom of Pitsligo Road in Morninsgside.

At the bottom of the hill near a T-junction, the sounds of the leaves landing was reflecting back off the high stone walls either side.

Leaves fall all the time and, it's good to keep a mindful openness to one's surroundings. 
The world is filled with places you might not know about, or ever visit, but things you might actually recognise are happening there all the time. We all share the same experiences, even if our locations are apart.
I think it's a way of saying; 

here is the world, your place in it, is as important as anyone else's.

Frozen Leaves Fall On Pitsligo Road, November 2019 V1

An especially busy day underwater at one of my favorite hydrophone listening spots; the Marina Drive bridge between Long Beach and Seal Beach. I can hear croakers, for sure, and what may also be garabaldi. I have seen, and heard them over in the marina and the popping sound they make is pretty distinct.

For a long time I wanted to record a really surrounding, enveloping and moving wind through reed. I found the perfect conditions at the forest lakes in Karelia. This track sounds like some witches are chattering around, whispering their spells.

Zoom F3 - mono recording. One channel of my recorder stopped working overnight in the cold weather. Originally was a pair of omnis.
Voice of a Mouflon with the mics hidden amongst the conifer trees on the 25th of Dec.
Extra noises: Snowblower on a hill the next one over, and local dogs barking.

This is my most detailed recording of Corixa punctata (aka Lesser water boatman) to date.

Can the Lesser and Greater families be told apart through sound alone? Please let me know. What seems clear is that it is possible to discern between some lesser varieties, as demonstrated by Marco Presente in this recording:

Thats short clip from one night under highest peakes in Alps - rock walls almost 1000meter high makes that place awesome echo. Owls in that time were crazy - never hear so intensive all night and so many different sounds from them. Also its time of deer rutting - and one came very close to microphones. Wind higher at mountains makes noise sound.
