Pulsar Mix 0004 - Agyena

Electronic music was founded by black Americans. And yet black artists are underrepresented on most festival line ups and people of colour experience racist door policies every weekend. 
This 1h mix of pure Detroit techno illuminates the musical genius of the originators of electronic music culture. 
I urge you to question the structures your favourite label/club/festival is built around and to make conscious decisions on who you support. 
Here are some steps to get involved:
1) Educate yourself about the origins of the music you like. You can start by looking up the names of the artists in the provided tracklist and see how they built electronic music.
2) Buy music directly from black artists and Black-owned labels. Also, on June 19th bandcamp is donating their profits to the NAACP Legal Defense Fund.
3) Read and share the work of black music/culture journalists. There is a list provided here: https://www.vice.com/.../what-you-can-do-to-protest... 
4) Demand fair pay for musicians (more information also in the article)
5) And most importantly, speak up if you witness injustice.
Also keep in mind that you should apply this reasoning to all other areas in your life, not just cultural institutions.
