🕯 The second guest on Unmasked Theoria, our new interview series focused on vinyl labels, is Lee Adams, founder of Khemia Records, Kaos London events and a long-time friend of ours at Unmasked. 🕯

Talking about music in the current situation feels difficult and strange at times, but it´s after an interview like this that one realises how resourceful music people are, and how life inspires creativity in our world, no matter what. 🌹

2021 marks the 5th anniversary of Khemia and the 18th of Kaos, and it felt just like the right time to have a chat with their founder, Lee Adams and talk about the past and the future of his projects.

Together with the interview that came out yesterday, Lupus, another great friend of both ours and Kaos, has prepared for us a mix made just of tracks released on Khemia. In this journey you will find a taster of the eclectic spectrum of sounds that make Khemia Records one of our favourite London labels.

"Often my brain activity goes into overdrive late at nights during moments when I should be going to sleep. The eyes gently close and soon a world from within springs to life. The mind takes you to unexpected places and often new ideas are brought forward. You question where have these ideas been during the daytime. The mix is in a way representation of the transformation of brain activity during that certain period of time – from the serenity of within to the massive electrical activity within the brain and then back to serenity (and hopefully sleep)."

Sounds From NoWhere welcomes aboard the Japanese producer Go Hiyama (Hue Helix / Token Records).

Go Hiyama has released over 80 titles with prominent labels such as: Warm Up, Token, Stroboscopic Artefacts, PercTrax, Planet Rhythm and Semantica amongst others. 
He is also one of the best regarded and most international Japanese artists.
Aside from producing tracks, he has toured Europe several times and has played in Spain, the Netherlands, UK, Germany, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Singapore, China. Korea and many other countries and cities. 
One of his most recent gigs was at Berghain and Tresor Berlin, which is considered one of the best clubs in the world.

Pris has been present and correct on the techno scene since 2013, initially making an impact on Resin and later releasing across tastemaking, singular labels such as Avian and Semantica. Pris’s music has always had a vulnerable quality weaved into powerful, dynamic tracks that became favourites amongst many of the vanguard of the scene and on vast, demanding sound systems. This unusual, sometimes wistful quality has evolved into an exciting new form through the medium of his new label, Empathy Corp, a striking mixed-media project founded alongside creative partner, Deejay Astral. The latest release from Pris himself, 'Sulphur City', has just hit stores. In a similar mould, and reflecting a philosophy that has evolved both emotionally and intellectually, Pris’s contribution to #PHANTASYMIX is involving, sophisticated techno that wears its heart on sleeve.

For us is an honor to guest one of the masters for us a huge artist we have only respect and admiration towards him. From Tilburg, Netherlands, comes DRVG CVLTVRE! Owner of the mighty legendary label NEW YORK HAUNTED, the recent label where our resident No Intellectual Property released back in November. He is a prolific producer and well respected artist in the global scene. 
He has released in labels such as: VIEWLEXX, PINKMAN, NEW YORK HAUNTED, PERMANENT VACATION, SHIPWREC, RZONE, RAVE OR DIE, M>O>S>, NERVOUS, WARP and much more! Since 2009, Vincent Koreman a.k.a. Drvg Cvltvre has been working on his own blend of dystopian acid, no wave and experimental house. Koreman is a highly productive producer, offering many of his new tracks for free download on his soundcloud page before they get released by labels. Respected in the international underground for his groundbreaking work in experimental techno as RA-X in the 90′s on labels like Bunker and KK Records, Koreman comes from a DIY punk background, opting for hard work rather than hollow pose.
Drvg Cvltvre’s tracks take the speed down a notch to emphasis on the heavy-ness of sound and using the space left between the pounding kicks to build melancholic melodies that seem to grow out of orevaporate into thin air. A blend of dark techno and deep house with lots of experiment, influenced in equal parts by Suicide, Sun Ra and Terrence Dixon.
