KISSFM13 Interview with Shedbug and Salt Mines

Spanish-born and Melbourne-based DJ duo. Passionate for records, they've become regular in the local scene. Their sets will take you on a musical rollercoaster, spanning between house, acid, electro, and techno, introducing uplifting beats in their sounds that keep the dancefloor moving.

Transmission 5: Cilla (Vinyl Only)

“No Dress (Modulor Acid Mix)” is the latest single by The People’s Dance Collective featuring vocals by Melbourne/Naarm’s own Modular (Olivas).

This acid soaked version of “No Dress” features waves of 303 energy, distorted perceptions of time and heightened levels of euphoria. A stripped back lo fi house beat provides a concrete foundation for a dance floor weapon.

There is a clear nod to MS Kittin and the Hacker in this partnership. No Dress describes how gender stereotypes are being broken down and blurred in the DJ Booth. Big delays on the vocals keep things spacey. Ironic vocals are just so European, aren’t they?

Skyyy is a binary DJ based in Naarm. He began mixing with the Melbourne Legend The PDC, who inspired him to start DJing on vinyl. He believes that a live back to back sets are the purest form of DJing, reacting to the room and never knowing what is next. He spent the last 8 years in New York frequenting Output, TBA Brooklyn, Verboten and House of Yes. He is heavily influenced by his time at the Mixtape Shop and Human Head, stylistically wandering between Melodic, Afro, Deep House and Breaks.

@soundslikeolivas || Teresa and Lucía, the Spanish-born/Melbourne-based DJ duo have made quite the splash since uniting under their Olivas project. Passionate about records and widely known for playing all-vinyl sets, they've quickly become a staple of the local music scene.

When they’re not spinning wax at venues all around the city, they keep busy with running two of their own radio shows, Deep Digging on KISS FM (which recently featured an Echocentric showcase mix - thanks for that!) and Wax Paradox on Hope St. Radio. They also curate parties under their Wax Paradox banner as well as Winyl - a party pairing for lovers of wine and vinyl. 

The mix is an spot-on representation of their approach - deep cosmic electronics across a genre palettte.
