Gundecha Brothers - Shiva Shiva, Raag Adana

Nirvana Shatakam is one of the rare stotras composed by Adi Shankaracharya (Adi Sankara Bhagawat Pada 8th Century). In this beautiful stotra Adi Sanka identifies himself with Lord Shiva and there by explains his philosophy of Oneness or non dualism. Shatakam is a Sanskrit word which literally means Six and the Nirvana Shatkam Sloka comprises of Six Stanzas. Nirvanasatakam Stotram repeats the word “Shivoham” which literally means “I am Shiva”.

   •   Fue escrita y grabada en 1963 por Gino Paoli para RCA Italiana, incluida luego en el álbum Basta chiudere gli occhi publicado en 1964  ￼ ￼.
   •   Paoli compuso la canción en Capo d’Orlando, Sicilia, mientras estaba en una casa cercana a una playa desierta  ￼.
   •   En ese momento, estaba casado, pero mantenía una relación sentimental con la joven actriz Stefania Sandrelli, quien, según algunas versiones, fue inspiración de la canción  ￼.

Sobre Gino Paoli
   •   Gino Paoli nació el 23 de septiembre de 1934 en Monfalcone, y se trasladó a Génova en su infancia, donde se convirtió en uno de los cantautores más destacados de la música ligera italiana  ￼.
   •   Entre sus éxitos destacan Il cielo in una stanza, La gatta, Senza fine y Sapore di sale  ￼.
   •   Durante la grabación de Sapore di sale, vivía un contexto personal complejo: depresión, un accidente automovilístico en 1962, y en 1963 sufrió un intento de suicidio  ￼ ￼ ￼.

Ши́ва (санскр. शिव, śiva IAST, «благой», «милостивый») — в индуизме олицетворение разрушительного начала вселенной и трансформации (созидания); одно из божеств верховной триады (тримурти), наряду с творцом Брахмой и поддержателем Вишну. Согласно «Шива-пуране», является создателем и Вишну, и Брахмы. Олицетворяет одновременно разрушительное и созидательное начала. Пять божественных ролей Шивы: создание, поддержка, растворение, сокрытие и дарование благодати.

зображается чаще всего сидящим в позе лотоса, с кожей белого цвета, с синей шеей, со спутанными или скрученными в пучок на макушке (джата) волосами, носящим змею на шее, голове, руках и ногах (как браслеты), на поясе и переброшенную через плечо (как аналог священного шнура). Одет в тигровую или слоновью шкуру, восседает на тигровой шкуре. На лбу — третий глаз, а также трипундра из священного пепла (бхасма или вибхути).

This instrumental rendition of the Yogeshwaraya chant is by bansuri maestro Rakesh Chaurasia. Playing mesmerizingly, he gives a surreal feel to this ancient chant.

In the Indian tradition, Shiva, the Adiyogi has many forms, each of which represents a powerful possibility for inner evolution. Yogeshwaraya - meaning the lord of Yoga - is a musical offering to Adiyogi by Sounds of Isha, Pandit Jasraj and Rakesh Chaurasia.

In the yogic tradition, Shiva is not worshiped as a God. He is the Adiyogi, the first Yogi, and Adi Guru, the First Guru from whom the yogic sciences originated. Guru Purnima is celebrated as the day when Adiyogi began the transmission of these sciences to the Saptarishis, his first seven disciples. So this Guru purnima, this is our musical garland. An offering of different renditions of the Yogeshwaraya chant to the Adiyogi.
