"Janko Dragovic is an artist with a long and rich association with the underground dance industry. First, through his Progress Inn moniker alongside Igor Kadic, and then on his own under the Desaturate moniker, Dragovic has continued to wow audiences with spellbinding DJ sets across Europe and Australia supporting the likes of Sasha, Cattaneo and Zabiela. An ever-expanding production portfolio has seen the Desaturate name featured on a host of blue-chip imprints and a century of production credits tell their own success story on Replug, Balkan Connection and Juicebox Music. Furthermore, Particles became a regular home to Desaturate's music, exemplified by "The Unholy Mountain" in May 2016 and collaborations with Rick Pier O'Neil and Forniva throughout 2016 and 2017.

January 2018's "Wanderer" EP showcased a stunning three-track EP on Proton Music and a remix of Deeparture's "Embraer" in November 2019 is now joined by a wonderfully creative interpretation of "Macropsia". With a chunky, driving rhythm in full effect, the pulsating bassline of the original is quickly developed with a new heavily modulated and gated lead line that takes on a life of its own while retaining the central characteristics of Huminal's work. An artist at the peak of his powers, Matias Chilano reigns supreme across his Argentinean homeland. A regular across the clubs of Buenos Aries, Cordoba and beyond South American borders, Chilano has shared the stage with a global DJ elite that incudes Nick Warren, Quivver, Khen and Jimmy Van M. Moreover, his ability to play piano and drums since the age of seven, has seen a triple century of production credits find their way onto such esteemed labels as Balkan Connection, Mistique Music and Soundteller supported by the cream of world DJs including Hernan Cattaneo and Armin Van Buuren.

A trio of remixes for Particles throughout 2018 showcased Chilano's considerable talent as he now debuts on Proton Music with an elegantly crafted remix of "Macropsia" that is full of trademark attention to detail and hypnotic and silkily evolving sound progression. Retaining the essence of Huminal's work, a host of additional production material manifests itself in gloriously textured chord and haunting new motifs that add a new depth and character exploding into life in the third movement.

Remixes from Desaturate and Matias Chilano continue to showcase "Macropsia" with vivid intensity.

The latest from Deersky’s Soundteller Records welcomes Andy King to the label for his debut single. The UK artist lays claim to a meticulous discography highlighted by releases on BCSA, Proton Music and Stripped Digital. After capping off a successful 2019 with a release on Solarstone’s Pure Progressive imprint, Andy now debuts on Soundteller with ‘Hemisphere’ alongside remixes from Eric Lune and Monojoke.

Always surfing the genre barriers with an effortless ease, Andy explores his pure progressive roots on ‘Hemisphere’. Beautifully designed, it’s tough galloping beats play off shimmering arps and spacey sweeps across the first act, before eventually melting down into a tranquil break. Creating tension with each successive loop, ghostly wails drift across the framework, as muted rhythms gently rumble below. Cosmic synths then steal air at opportune moments, washing away the atmosphere into a rush of beats and percussion for a powerful finale.

Fresh off a stunning remix for Stellar Fountain, it’s Eric Lune who provides the first interpretation of ‘Hemisphere’. The Australian artist remains one of the progressive scenes fasting rising stars and his uncanny knack for crafting feel good melodies continues here. Clocking in at nearly ten minutes in length, it’s soulful strums, playful musicality and buoyant groove are joyous to say the least. Not lost in this is are dynamic moments though, particularly during the main break. Complete with striking electronics and impassioned harmonics, it serves as the ideal centrepiece for this epic journey.

Rounding out the release and providing the second and final interpretation of ‘Hemisphere’ is label artist Monojoke. Returning for his 10th appearance, the Polish artist follows his hit ‘Neon Desert’ from September of last year with a superb remix here. Drawing on the sensibilities of the original the Cracow resident adds layer after layer of melodic colour. It’s this trademark sound which has made him such a huge favourite amongst progressive house fans, and with a truly exhilarating break it really does round the release out on a massive note. Big time stuff from Monojoke and a beautiful release from Deersky’s Soundteller Records. Highly recommended.

The Italian duo arrive on the imprint with a fine pedigree, having landed stirring releases on Innervisions, Afterlife, Sapiens and Diynamic all in the last 18 months. They similarly impressed during their maiden WG club gig last October on the Waterfloor.

The four-tracker ‚Night Queen’ masterfully manages to eschew a familiar club sound for something all-together uplifting, nostalgic and captivating, courtesy of their powerful arrangements and strong leads. Liebe Möhren, ihr habt mir und euren Gästen etwas zurückgegeben, das ich bereits vor Monaten für die absehbare Zukunft verloren geglaubt habe: die Hoffnung darauf, ein Festival erleben zu dürfen. Das war ein wundervolles und wichtiges Zeichen und ich bin sehr froh, dass ihr diesen mutigen und steinigen Weg gegangen seid und uns diese Realitätsflucht ermöglicht habt. Klopft euch ruhig mal auf beide Schultern für das, was ihr in diesem Jahr alles aus dem Hut gezaubert habt! 🎩

Ebenso dankbar bin ich allen Künstler*innen, deren Sets ich lauschen durfte oder die ich – genau wie einige Bekannte – getroffen habe sowie allen Gästen, die zu dieser schönen Stimmung während meines Sets beigetragen und die milde zur wilden Möhre gemacht haben – davon werde ich noch lange zehren! 🗯🗯 How Did Corona change your artist life? 🗯🗯

It changed virtually every aspect of my life as an artist.  All my upcoming dates were cancelled overnight and any potential future gigs were put on hold indefinitely.  My booking agency (which is now defunct) and I were in the middle of discussions with promoters in Argentina, Australia, Czech Republic, Vietnam, Bulgaria, Costa Rica, Canada, and more.

I was touring Thailand when I started noticing the situation becoming very serious.  The Full Moon Party, which is the largest gathering in Koh Phangan and a huge part of their economy, was suddenly stopped without warning.  By the time mid-March came around, I was in Hawaii doing my last performance before all international flights were blocked and lockdowns began.

Running my record label Perspectives Digital has now become my full-time job.  Mentally it’s been very challenging going from touring nearly every week down to zero, but thankfully there have been some positive things that came out of the pandemic.  I’m spending more time at home and working on things that I previously didn’t have time for, such as studying German and watching production tutorials.  I feel more connected with friends and family, plus I’m getting more sleep and staying healthier.

🗯🗯 Where did you record the mix and how did you feel? 🗯🗯

I recorded the mix in my home studio feeling extremely honored.  I moved to Berlin 3 years ago hoping to accelerate my music career.  It was so exciting to be approached by the Berlin Club Commission and be asked to provide a guest mix for United We Stream.  Thank you so much for the chance to participate in such a unique concept and opportunity!

🗯🗯  What are your wishes for the time after Corona? 🗯🗯

I hope things return to normal soon and the economy bounces back quickly.  It would be great if clubs can keep public hygiene in mind even when we’re not fighting a pandemic.

If there’s one change I’d like to see going forward, it’s that promoters should not be so overly dependent on adding huge international acts to their lineups.  I see this problem all the time when traveling to other countries.

Many times people don’t feel interested to attend a show or think they won’t have a good time unless the event has at least one big headliner.  The truth is, these extremely overpaid “big names” are merely just hype and not worth the price of admission.  The audience can often have just as good of a time listening to local DJ’s.

Local artists are the glue that hold this industry together and they deserve way more respect (and pay) than they’re currently getting!  Don’t forget that every big headliner DJ you know started his or her career in small clubs.

On our final release of 2020, Marc Holstege and newcomer duo Jaquomo each offer strikingly tender original tracks, while remixers Moonwalk and Fabian Krooss rework them with dancefloors past and future in mind. The result is a split EP that bridges the gap between the intimate, highly personal experience of today and the nostalgia-driven hope for tomorrow. 

On Marc Holstege's 'The Boy In The Garden', melancholic strings rise and fall endlessly over a slow breakbeat and shimmering synths. But it's the soulful, contemplative male vocal sitting at the song's core that reaches straight for the heart – and won't let go again. 'Wolves (Sunday Morning Version)' is equally touching, as the Dutch producer guides another delicate vocal through a dazzling slow-beat arrangement with profound results. For their remix, the Italian duo Moonwalk then strip 'The Boy In The Garden' of its sentimental atmospheres, cunningly remoulding the vocals to fit their razor-sharp and cinematic peak-time sound.

Jaquomo's 'Replace Space' is sure to run on repeat. Here, Caro Mac's vocal incites our memories for those lost loves as it floats over pensive chords and a crunchy trip-hop beat. 'Close & Hide' is pitched-down piano house accentuated by another ingenious use of vox, making it just as moreish. Rounding things off with a bang, Fabian Krooss reimagines 'Replace Space' as a playful italo-disco opus of arpeggiated basslines and wonky synths.
