Guillemots (Uria aalge) are the most common auk found in the British Isles. The guillemot is a gregarious seabird spending the majority of the year at sea, and only coming to land to breed. These perky seabirds gather in massive and tightly packed breeding colonies, known as loomeries, on coastal cliffs and rock stacks.The nesting cliffs are noisy places in summer, with the guillemots frequently making their long drawn-out 'aaarr' call. It is a pleasant sounding call, and from a distance may even be described as 'cooing'. Guillemots are also commonly called murres after the deep murmurings made by groups of nesting and fishing birds.

The Eurasian siskin (Spinus spinus) is a small passerine bird in the finch family Fringillidae. This bird has two calls, both powerful but conflicting, one is descending and the other is ascending, their onomatopoeic sounds can be represented as "tilu" and "tluih". On occasions they also issue a harsh rattling chirrup. The song is similar to the other finches, a smooth and rapid twitter and trill with a long duration and which is occasionally interrupted by a stronger of shorter syllable. Siskins sing throughout the year and often in groups.
