Donald’s House, the musical moniker of James Isaacs, is a project born from a bedroom on Donald Street in Brunswick, Melbourne. Over the past decade, he’s developed a unique and eclectic sound that resonates across dance floors from Oceania to Europe. Drawing influence from paradise garage disco, early 90s house, italo, and the iconic DMX drum kit, Donald’s House blends the nostalgic with the contemporary, creating a refreshing take on dance music.

Central to their sound are driving percussion, chords, and stabs, paired with big 909 kick drums and basslines that practically compel movement. These elements lock the music in an 90s-00s groove while adding a modern touch.

Donald’s House has made waves with EPs on Permanent Vacation, Not an Animal Records or Touch From A Distance, and tracks featured in compilations like CC:Disco’s First Light Volume II.

His DJ sets are as diverse as their productions, with James weaving through drum machine disco, groove-oriented EBM, afro, and italo records. He also pays homage to house and techno, making his performances a journey through dance music’s vast terrain.

He’s lit up iconic venues such as Panorama Bar, Plastic People, and PAL, earning a reputation for creating engaging, eclectic sets that capture both past and present influences. Whether spinning records on the international circuit or working in the studio, James continues to push his sound forward, keeping the spirit of Donald’s House alive and thriving.

Having started their musical journey in 2016 with an eponymous YouTube channel where they would share cuts from their record collections, Norm and Simon quickly began introducing a swing of previously unnoticed and favorite titles to a wider audience.

In 2019, the pair launched the Native Dance label, distributed through Early Distro and Rush Hour. Their debut release, which quickly sold out, showcased low-slung street soul, 90s digi-afro, and zouk, featuring notable contributions from Venezuelan digger-extraordinaire Trujillo and Russian wizard Beard in Dust. Following this strong introduction, the second volume solidified Bayetë's reputation as widely recognized DJs and selectors, delivering four dancefloor-ready edits that merged luscious chanson, quirky downtempo, and sun-soaked Italo-pop, crafted with the help of close friends and local producers.

They are back in 2025 with their third release, "Rumo Immaginari 01." Going fully digital, this first sampler features four club cuts shaped with the help of esteemed producer friends, drifting towards 90s dancefloor edges with ethereal synths, Italian house influences, and offbeat pop.

Here is "Fashion Love," edited by the power duo Roughly Norm & Sorta Sean. This sophisticated and offbeat 1990 song highlights all the elements they cherish in pop music: a strong hook, a laidback flow, tongue-in-cheek lyrics, and synthetic arrangements. Originally released on CD, it cruelly lacked loudness and a proper drum machine to meet today’s club standards. The structure was also rethought, removing overloaded corniness in parts.
