Hormone self-released their eponymous debut in 2017, chiseling out tracks from the bedrock of boogie funk and bedroom disco with forays into the hazier quadrants of dance pop. “Smoothsayer,” their new EP on Dream Chimney, sees the duo leaning into a more focused version of this sound, with smacky drums, luxe synth pads and rubbery bass lines rolling out alongside contrasting tracks with a sense of quiet weightlessness, all tied together with the cool, drizzly beauty of Clement’s vocal layers. 

Rounding out the compact 4 trackers are remixes that give the tracks the full Dream Chimney treatment, with a breakified dreamgaze flip of Smoothsayer by labelmate Sorcerer and our premiere feature, a balearic chug dub of Wallfacer by the Chimney's own.

Maryag's mini-album "History B" is born out of the intricacy of history, in which we search for sincere human emotions. Like any search, the music here represents a combination of paths towards truth, blending styles and musical influences, seasoned with experimentation. British sound, African percussion, stretched Moog basslines, and ambient synthesized textures all come together in Maryag's new release - "History B."

Maryag is the pseudonym of Maxim Zhestkov, who combines the roles of musician, DJ, and producer. Over the past few years, his work has appeared on independent labels such as FROUFROUFROU, Inhale Exhale, Bellissima! Records, and others, and his mixes often appear on various online radio stations. Preferring Detroit house and New York disco sound, he sometimes ventures into experimenting with broken beats, introspective melodies, and elongated basslines.

Finishing it off in style, label head has provided us with a downtempo, electro-funk jam that carries an analog feel, making any body move like it's an 80s groove.
