Vinyl-only label Liquid Memory and its founders Elroi and Ori Raz are back with the second Liquid Memories installment on their imprint delivering four original tracks from themselves under their solo-monikers as well as their common project Serenity Now and Ori’s collaborative work with WhereIsFenix. The Berliners by choice compiled an EP that musically certainly aims at the dance floor yet the tracks cover the different episodes or moments of the night and are a successful conglomerate of varied electronic music with references to the early days of the music. The EP kickstarts with Elroi’s contribution Transmission, a track which is inspired by Dub Techno and skillfully nuanced hypnotic pads. The latter take the crowd on a deep journey into the night without notice as Transmission makes one float over the floor with its super bouncy bassline and absorbing chords.

C4STRO, Klai, Martim Tonic, Lou de Melo, Deaf Feet & 4In launched their Oasis Record label a few months ago via a three-track, multi-artist missive. For release number two, they've repeated the exercise, with two rising stars joining C4STRO on the EP. His cut, 'Got 2 Feet', is a gradually growing deep house loop jam in which spacey sounding synth motifs, echoing melodic motifs and raw, weighty electronic bass wrap round a rolling, disco-tinged house groove. Ramboiage continues the hypnotic loop-jam theme on thickest, bass-heavy stomper 'Rebaldaria', while British producer VRRS reaches for the filters on glistening, seriously summery disco-house cut 'Dancing in the Groove'.

PREMIERE : C4STRO - Got 2 Feet

The don of Siberian techno Roma Zuckerman made his debut double LP ‘Phenomenon of Provincial Mentality’ on Gost Zvuk with a much-anticipated showcase of his remarkably diverse language of sound, from quickfire DJ tools to off-kilter extrapolations with a full stylistic diversity in between.

Working through the archive, the label assembled a collection of hypnotic loops in the vein of early Robert Hood and click-and-cut experiments that recall the punk attitude of Berlin's Elektro Music Department, all the while with nods towards European minimal. The album opens with two subdued, speak-and-spell processed vocal jams before 'Text Regulator' brings things into overdrive with furious drum programming and wide-eyed glitch FX. Over to Side B things take a turn into something more melodic and relaxing, an almost BBC radiophonic workshop zone with synthetic underwater sounds bringing to mind Amadeo Tomassi's library soundtracks of the late 70s. Think of early sonic portrayals of deep space exploration or the ocean's vastness mixed with repetitive 909 stabs.

This EP by Zoras brings together dispersed materials, different from each other, with a core in sampling: a drum set by Fito Páez, another by Chi Chi Peralta, or some winds from a Russian song become part of Breakbeat, House, and Electro tracks. The art of taking things out of context. They were produced between 2022 and 2023 in Cabildeep.

Petals in Sound makes her debut on Paille Records with a driving four-tracker. 'Always Be' provides a solid rhythmic foundation alongside soulful synths chords that widens the soundscape. This beautiful track gets a facelift courtesy of Tree Threes. Straight off the bat, the drums are driven harder, picking up the energy level while maintaining the distinctive soulful elements of the tracks. A great balance straight and deep house ready for any dance floor.
'Caipirinha' keeps the momentum going with a solid groove that is beautifully complemented by a spacey top-end and smokey vocals. Beautiful through and through. 'Our Place' makes use of atmospheric pads and synths chords alongside beautifully masked vocals that provide a floating track.
