Tally G is back for her fourth installment with the series and we're proud to say we've got another doosey of a mix on our hands. As expected this most talented mixtress delivers another quick moving session full of bangers, and intricate, precise blends. Keeping the flow interesting, artistic, and in rhythm, Tally G drives home a Junglist based session full of dope drums and memorable samples. Bio
Tally G (San Diego), behind the decks off and on for the past two decades, is known
for her diversity as a (mostly) drum and bass DJ, seamlessly blending jungle,
footwork, juke, and neurofunk, among other subgenres, most notably deep, dark,
techy minimal DnB. Every set is a journey, told through a combination of long,
thoughtful transitions, skillfully quick mixing, and energetic double drops guaranteed
to get bodies moving and gun fingers popping. She is one half of Hologynic and one
half of Tex n Bass. She holds residencies with Boomslang Recordings (USDNB), Siren
Project (NYC), Proper Chicago, The Distinguished (CO), Syncopation (AZ), and THC Kru
(USDNB) and is the co-founder of El Paso’s DNBtherapy Drum and Bass. Tally G is also
on the board of directors for Siren Project, an all female-identifying collective
dedicated to providing safe spaces for trans-, non-binary, and cis-women performers
who raise funds for various nonprofit organizations. She has played around the United
States and is currently learning music production.

As a prelude to the upcoming Soul:ution Room Two takeover on Friday 16th May, label boss Marcus Intalex and one of Manchester’s most reliable renegade emcees, DRS, have bumped consciousness and put together this, their ‘Mid Mic Crisis’ mix. Regular sparring partners in clubs the world over, DRS’ trademark measured Mancuian flow rides perfectly atop on Intalex’s soulful selection with his baritone delivery sitting sweetly and filling out the dynamic range of the rolling selections which reportedly feature, in some form, material from DRS’ forthcoming second album, Mid Mic Crisis.

Basically it’s a glorious and specifically tailored 62 minute mixtape showcase of DRS’ potency as a host, an emcee and a vocalist. But it comes mixed by Intalex which more than hints at the level of quality it contains... two of Manchester's finest in sterling form.

Overall I relied on some tried and true older tracks to fill in the cracks and tried to just keep things rolling along. I'm still in my "experimentation with dancefloor DNB" phase as I'm trying to get in the mindset for some outside summer festival sets — I pushed it into that big room soaring vibe towards the end. As an original part of the Metalheadz crew (his name is inked on the spine of the label's first ever release), Doc Scott's been a constant influence and driving force behind 170bpm music whether working on Reinforced, HDZ, Bukem's Goodlooking imprint or on his own 31 Records. Over time since he first appeared the Coventry born producer's watched the scene he loves weather changes, or as his biography puts it "from it's transitions from rave to hardcore, jungle-techno to tech step to d&b, from UK based to a global scene and industry, Doc Scott has seen it all and been there for the entire journey." He's quite famously described by his long time friend Goldie as "king of the rollers" and he's the type of DJ that when he speaks, you simply put up and listen. 

And that's what we've been doing all day, since we received this exclusive mix, one he's delivered ahead of his Room Two appearance alongside LTJ Bukem, Klute and Dom & Roland a week on Friday. Sometimes gumpf just gets in the way so all we'll say, is sit back, get comfortable and press play...
