As the year winds to a close, Deersky’s Soundteller Records presents volume seventeen of it’s popular Vibrant Vibeland series. 2021 proved to be the most prolific year to date for the long-running series, notching five editions, beginning with Volume 13 in January. Although primarily a landing spot for new talent, some longer running artists such as Neftali Blasko, Pablo German, Soulmade (AR) and more have also called the series home in more recent years. Now embarking on the seventeenth installment, Soundteller readies fifteen fresh cuts to satisfy your progressive appetite, beginning with the spacious, arp-driven ‘Disconnected Soul’ from up and coming Saudi Arabian artist MindWhere. Although the focus is predominantly progressive house, Danyel Irsina’s ‘Live as On’ presents a deeper, organic quality to shift the narrative during the collection’s first half, while ‘Escape’ from Around Us concludes the release with a distinct lean to melodic house and techno territory. Other standouts include Soulmade’s euphoric ‘Parallel’, Adrian Font’s heartfelt ‘The Magician’ and Dysco & VegaZ SL’s mystical groover ‘Isla’s Ritual’. All in all it’s another outstanding selection of music from Soundteller Records who will no doubt continue to build on the series’ legacy across 2022. One of my all time favorite classics is Quivver's Brothers & Sisters. Therefore with great pleasure we re-release this awesome tune together with a brand new 2022 remix by Cid inc. The original still gives us goosebumps with it's strong melody and awesome deep groove kicking in at the 2 minute mark. The remix gives a fresh take on the track with a big drive and strong bass. The groove leads pretty much everything here and the vibe Cid Inc. creates is hypnotizing throughout the whole track. To top it off he adds a repeating melody line which further dives you into this over 9 minutes musical journey. The perfect release to kick off 2022 with.

After an incredible year from which Meanwhile continued to release a panoply of stellar music, GMJ & Matter’s imprint begins 2022 in scintillating fashion. Now, with a quarter century of releases under its belt, Matter returns to the label with his second original EP in the shape of the 3-track, “Banksia”.

After an incredible 2021, culminating with the November release of his debut “Starchild” album on Meanwhile Horizons, numerous collaborations with production partner in crime, GMJ, and over 1 million Spotify streams, the Melbourne based DJ and producer begins the year with a musical vignette of the highest quality.

Opening proceedings, the title track is a glorious piece of trademark progressive house from the Matter production studio. As mesmerising as it is powerful, an immaculately syncopated percussive and melodic groove combine in joyous harmony as a repeated motif waxes and wanes with filtered ease, backed by thumping beat and rumbling bassline. Huge white-noise swells herald new sonic phases as “Banksia” builds to a powerful crescendo post-breakdown in a spine-tingling second half.

Continuing the deep rolling groove of its predecessor, a seismic kick and head-shaking bass pattern form the foundations for “Burnout”. A trademark swathe of filtered synth motifs soon come to the fore amongst waves of gently pulsing white-noise risers, before an Underworld-esque breakdown of bassline prowess and hands-in-the-air synths explode into a third movement. Containing all the characteristics for a club-friendly stormer, “Burnout” is sure to fill festival floors over the antipodean summer.

The third track sees “Magic Rooms” complete the triptych with its shimmering arp and swung hi-hats. Working together in perfect synchronicity, a bassline sequence adds subtle urgency and low-end power before an evolving suite of synth elements combines in a magical symphony of sound that rises and falls in counterpoint glory. A characteristic bevy of reverb-soaked white-noise effects add to the sonic dynamism as the track opens up post-breakdown into a stunning arrangement of production know-how and sonic mastery.

A career that continues to blossom with each successive release, “Banksia” finds Matter coming into bloom once again with an iridescent pattern of musical verve.

Clubsonica Records continues a strong start to the year by welcoming Frankie M, Rodrigo Lapena and Gonzalo Sacc to the label for their debut EP. Based in Argentina and firmly entrenched in their country's progressive music scene; Frankie, Rodrigo and Gonzalo have all achieved measurable success in their respective careers. A collective discography showcases standout releases via Hoomidaas, Songspire, The Soundgarden and TRYBESof. Also well regarded amongst the world's electronic music tastemakers, the Argentinean artists continue to earn play and support from Hernan Cattaneo and Nick Warren. Now joining forces for their Clubsonica debut, Frankie M, Rodrigo Lapena and Gonzalo Sacc present 'My Home | Let Me Go', alongside remixes from DJ San and Juan Deminicis.

Beginning with 'My Home' you get a feel for just how strong the creative synergy between these three talents is. Featuring a deep progressive minded narrative, the trio craft a foundation of beefy beats, smooth rhythms and tantalizing tonal themes. Soulful vocal phrases steal the air as the first act evolves, bringing with them muted pianos and effervescent effects. Coming to full fruition during the main break, the piano and vocal take centerstage, playing off one another and continuing to elevate mood, eventually fading off as a final soulful phrase summons the groove for a glowing finale. The companion piece 'Let Me Go' proves to be a worthy complement with its deep, driving energy. Muscular beats power the undulating groove, while percolating effects and timely vocals add space, depth and emotion. Continuing to evolve as the main break commences, the vocal flows through tasteful modulation amidst a bed of warm tones and swirling atmospherics, perfectly setting up a thunderous drop and vocal-led finale.

Providing the lone interpretation of 'My Home' is DJ San. Whether operating under his DJ San or Solid Sessions monikers, Dutch artist Sandor Jongerius has a storied history in electronic music. The Amsterdam resident lays claim to an impressive resume, highlighted by releases via Armada, Positva, Sony and Universal. Electronic music's premiere tastemakers have also been steadfast supporters of DJ San, with Armin Van Buuren, Dubfire, John Digweed, Paul Oakenfold, Pete Tong, Sasha and Tiesto all championing his sound at one time or another. Now, DJ San debuts on Clubsonica with a gorgeous rendition of 'My Home'. Taking a cue from the original while adding a deeper state of mind, the Dutch artist carves out a warm, fluid groove adorned with creamy tones and heartrending vocals. Sweeping effects and delicate arps continue to advance the journey, pushing momentum forward into a poignant break. Connecting in a profound way, the vocal highlights the interlude, expertly surrounded with waves of cosmic colour as it gently builds towards a suitably understated crescendo and genuine finale.

The release concludes with Juan Deminicis providing the lone interpretation of 'Let Me Go'. The Argentinean artist has released on the genre's finest imprints, with Cid Inc's Replug Records, Guy J's Lost and Found and Hernan Cattaneo's Sudbeat Music all being regular homes for the talented Argentine. Engaging from the outset, warm beats and rhythmic pulses converge for a sleek yet energetic groove, while crisp percussion and youthful vocal elements bring colour and texture to the framework. Building an engaging narrative, exotic drums and cascading tones marry beautifully across the first act, before segueing smoothly into the main break. Effervescent vocals highlight the centerpiece, delivering soulful moments, before a gentle rush of noise cues a powerful drop and exhilarating finale. A stunning remix from Juan, which rounds out a must-have collaborative project from Frankie M, Rodrigo Lapena and Gonzalo Sacc, an artist trio who have delivered some of their most engaging work to date here.

A Particles regular and an artist with a growing portfolio of original and remix production material to his name, Chihaka is a welcome returnee to the label with his "Hupenyu" EP. Able to point to a clutch of tracks for the likes of The Purr, One Of A Kind and Balkan Connection South America, Michael Chihaka hit the ground running on Particles with his "Nyarara" and "Pinda" EPs in October 2019 and May 2020.

The title track is a glorious progressive house offering that glitters with filtered arp and sympathetic bassline sequence. Building delicately through white-noise swells and analogue synth phrases, a beautiful piano sequence of piano chords lights up the breakdown before a glissando bass repeats the underlying motif in a sublime musical layer. Anchored by strong beat and hi-hat groove, the result is an outstanding piece of original music from the Chihaka studio.

Another growing force in the world of underground dance music, Imran Khan has seen his stock rise steadily for the likes of Stellar Fountain, Mango Alley and GMJ and Matter's Meanwhile imprint. Finding a home on Proton Music with a series of original EP's including 2019's "Organik" and "Sunsweat", remixes for Dmitry Molosh, Michael A and Petar Dundov have sparked another side to the UK producer's arsenal. 2018's "Eva" and remixes for the likes of Kamilo Sanclemente, Hot TuneiK and Savvas, represent a strong body of Particles work as Imran Khan now reworks "Hupenyu" with typical aplomb. Resonant in huge seismic bassline, elements from Chinaka's original gradually filter into sonic range as the track progresses through its eight-minute voyage. Familiar chords and pads seep through, whilst a wave of original production material shines across the track with immaculate production technique. A heavy kick and percussive flow add to the powerful groove in another flawless offering from Imran Khan.

From the Chilean capital, Jesus Gonzalez is a relative newcomer to the deep and progressive house seen with his OHMZ production moniker. Catching attention with original work for Flug Lab, The Purr, RYNTH and a December 2021 remix of B.A.X. for 3rd Avenue, the Santiago resident makes his Particles debut with a spellbinding reworking of "Kupisa", first heard on Chihaka's "Ndarasika" EP in August 2021. OHMZ has thus created a beautiful organic house interpretation through his "Pacific Gardens Remix" that draws on the themes resonating through the original, whilst creating a new and innovative piece of music redolent in soft piano sequences, free-flowing synth passages and emotive chord patterns. Backed by a subtle breakbeat rhythm and clicking, popping percussive groove, OHMZ has provided a wonderful addition to the EP.

Through "Hupenyu", Chihaka has one again captured the attention, supported by remixes from Imran Khan and OHMZ.

Continuing a strong start to the year, Madloch's Sound Avenue imprint welcomes Domingo + back to the label for his first solo EP. As one half of the Mariner + Domingo duo, American artist Chris Domingo has compiled an impressive resume across an eighteen-month stretch. Upon making his debut on Balkan Connection in July of 2020, the Florida resident went on a remarkable run, landing releases via 3rd Avenue, Proton Music, RYNTH, and The Purr. Perhaps his most comfortable landing spot was Madloch's long-standing Sound Avenue imprint, where Mariner + Domingo released ten originals across ten months, none more impactful than ‘Another Life' and ‘Inertia', which earned play and support from Lee Burridge and Sebastien Leger respectively.
Now embarking on his future musical endeavors in solo capacity, Domingo + returns to Sound Avenue with a two-track showcase entitled ‘Hardway'.

As Domingo + continues to operate at a creative peak, it is the jubilant sounds of ‘Hardway' which set the course for this new career path. Played out over seven sun-drenched minutes, a storyboard of vocal fragments and Mediterranean motifs gets intertwined with chunky bass tones, clustered chimes, and dusty percussion. Sitting at the heart of the journey, a spirited interlude carries the youthful spirit of the vocal, set against a backdrop of aquatic cascades, before eventually melting down into a glowing finale.

Coming in deeper and more organic is the companion piece ‘Falling Apart'. Acting as an ideal complement to its predecessor, a forest of exotic drums and juxtaposed vocal phrasing paints a contemplative narrative. Mysterious and mystical, the main break furthers the affectionate vocal, sitting amidst muted tones and flickering percussion, before giving way to an unassuming drop and tastefully restrained conclusion. It rounds out two exceptional tracks from Domingo +, who not only makes a triumphant return to Sound Avenue, but gets his solo endeavors off to a tremendous start.
