"Afro Cookie" is the first single to be taken from David Hanke's forthcoming album 'Moyo Wangu' under his Renegades Of Jazz name.

'Moyo Wangu' (My heart) reflects on the years he spent during his early childhood with his parents in Arusha/Tanzania, showcasing twelve songs made out of his love for Afrofunk and recalling the time he spent there.

the first song "Afro Cookie" has the distinctive Renegades Of Jazz sound, a modern Afrofunk anthem, which was also the starting point back for the 'Moyo Wangu' album.
On the flip side, the track 'Pounding Song' with it's traditional sung chants is a work song in a dust infused uptempo Afrojazz treatment.

Afro Cookie @ Craig Charles Funk & Soul Show

DJ Kleva Kaslam is a 26 year old singer and producer from the small northern Namibian town known unofficially as Omukukutu. Omukukutu Funky Tunes Vol. 1, Kaslam’s debut release, showcases a joyous range of southern African house and Afropop, adorned with multi-part harmonies and strong rhythmic drum lines.

Kaslam sings songs of lost love, of dedication to previous generations of South African musicians, and even adapts a popular anthem sung during Namibia’s struggle for independence from South Africa’s apartheid-era mandate. These songs were written and recorded in Windhoek, Namibia’s capital, in close collaboration with BSR’s Okey Szoke, who produced the EP. One Joe, another Namibian singer with a forthcoming EP slated for release through BSR, and a good friend of Kaslam, also features on the release. 

Kaslam’s is the sort of music that can be heard blasting out of $1 communal taxicabs in Windhoek; Brother Sister Records is honored to now share it with the rest of the world.

First Nations electronic pow wow DJ trio A Tribe Called Red have unveiled
“R.E.D.,” their collaboration with Yasiin Bey (formerly known as Mos Def), MC
Narcy and Black Bear, a drum group from the Manawan Atikamekw Nation in
Quebec. “R.E.D.” is a scalding song, a bleak beat stacked with synths, shouts
and a flurry of percussion. It’s from A Tribe Called Red’s forthcoming album
‘We Are The Halluci Nation,’ out September 16.
