The Calmbabas is a collaborative project uniting two of India's most iconic Minimal Techno artists: Calm Chor (Ashvin Mani Sharma, co-founder of Soupherb Records) and Boombaba (Tarun Shahani, Soupherb Records artist). Longtime friends and trailblazers of the Indian underground dance music scene, these two have been shaking up festival and club floors for over 25 years.

Born from a series of unforgettable pop-up gigs at House of Chapora, AntiSocial, and other legendary Goan venues, Calmbabas emerged as a moniker synonymous with cutting-edge sonic experiences. These shows featured electronic music heavyweights like Eat Static, Karsh Kale, Midival Punditz, Vinayaka, and of course, the Calmbabas themselves.

Their debut EP draws from a shared nostalgia for the golden era of Goa Trance, weaving together their unique synthesis styles into a deeply textured audio journey.

"Bad Case of the Moody Blues" is a slow-burning mix of pulsing saw waves, ethereal bells, and syncopated tom rhythms. Its roaring synths push dance floors into mesmerising, hypnotic motion.

"Late Night Lateefs" transports listeners to an alien tropical world, where neon creatures call from within dense, glowing purple jungles. Amidst the croaks of giant luminous frogs and the shimmer of radiant flying insectoids, this track is a psychedelic safari under nine moonlit skies.

"In da Phryg" tells the story of RE44, a sentient android tired of routine. In a rogue move, RE44 rewrites his code, launching himself into a journey of wild funk, emotional resonance, and transformative escapades.
