Il était une fois l'histoire d'un bulot, à qui l'on proposa une simple mayo. Son nom était Killog, roi des mers, de la tempête et des abysses. Il aimait le parterre, la trompette et la glisse. Avec les bavoux du coin, il se retrouvait tous les matins devant la terrasse du Calicoco pour une journée de style entre gastéropotes. Pour accompagner cette session pleine de tricks, Kill apportait toujours sa bonne compil' pleine de tracks. Un gros mélange de sonorités décrit par le vieux buccin du village comme « Une variation de hits bourrés de hats tentaculaire auxquelles s'opposent le son de basse à la texture caniculaire. Un assemblage de glitch noise par des mollusques avisés, des breaks déstructurés pour des voisins en manque de fioul, du club de fêtard dopé au tempo. » Il ajoutait également que « Cette musique sample le combat contre les cycloptères sournois d'en haut et leurs milices de crustacés. On peut y entendre des expérimentations sonores et électriques, des phases hétérogènes pour dj's en panique. » Et sur ces paroles, il regardait les coquilles partir en chantonnant « Pas le temps de boire la tasse ».

Once upon a time, there was a whelk who was offered a simple mayo. His name was Killog, king of the seas, storm and abyss. He loved the parterre, the trumpet and the slide. Every morning, he and the local chavoux met in front of the Calicoco terrace for a day of gastropot style. To accompany this session full of tricks, Kill always brought along his good compil' full of tracks. A chunky mix of sounds described by the village old whelk as "A variation of hits packed with sprawling hats contrasted with the sound of heat-textured bass. An assemblage of glitch noise by savvy mollusks, unstructured breaks for neighbors in need of fuel, tempo-doped party club." He also added that "This music samples the fight against the devious cyclopterans above and their crustacean militias. You can hear sonic and electric experimentation, heterogeneous phases for dj's in panic." And with these words, he watched the shells leave, singing "No time to swallow water".

SousTraitance Label, one of the many representatives of Lyon's scene resurfaces from the depths with Masterbep'. The third installment in their compilation series dances on the fringe of the current yet futuristic club scene, echoing the eerie beauty of organic sounds emanating from reptilian, xenomorphic entities. 

Featuring as usual up-and-coming French and international Producers (Trois-Quarts Taxi System, Rxex, Smogo, Anta Doma, Orchid, Homelander, Marmo), this seven-track CD fuses elements of halftime DnB, entrancing psychedelic techno, gravity-defying dub uk, nebulous IDM and razor-sharp breakbeats. Each track feels like it has been meticulously nurtured in amniotic fluid, infused with rhythms carrying an acidic edge - a testament to the profound influence of modern electronic music on the mind.

Introducing Pala EP, the first instalment of Pressure Dome’s new tape series and a PD debut from London’s City Kudu. So far finding its home across Manchester’s Access Memory imprint, and Kudu’s own beloved brainchild, Kite Hill Records, the emerging producer’s discography toys with space and rhythm to create immersive environments.

In keeping with this theme, Pala EP is a thoughtful display of the ways in which light and shade can co-exist in dance music, each track bolstered by driving bass lines and accented by delicate melodic flares. Honeysuckle and Jade draw on dubbed-out soundscapes taken from the schools of Basic Channel and SND, both enlivened by the dynamism of tuned drums. The former is haunted by a fragmented voice, whilst the latter is bathed in a plaintive ambience. Connected in their half-time pace, Pala and Twine work to further emphasise the dichotomy between light and shade. The title track’s dancehall-indebted rhythm accompanies radiant pads, whilst Twine represents its gritty counterpart, not a far cry from the work of Livity Sound extraordinaires Toma Kami and Kouslin. 

Exclusively on offer to those swift enough to get their hands on a limited edition cassette, the B-side sees Kudu wear the EP’s influences on his sleeve, offering an inspiration mix featuring music that has fed into the sound of the EP.

We do like it when Dutch dance veterans go through their old DAT-tapes. It's like digging for gold, which is often found. On the Dreech EP on SoHaSo Records, DJ Remy takes us back to his RoXY days. That time when we all ate strobes for breakfast and recognized a Pump Up The Jam-sample whenever we saw one. Opener 'Lost DAT One' is a gem. Remy proves he still packs a punch today, with the freshly produced breakbeat infused 'Stampkramp'.

Remy shares this vintage feel-EP with Joannes, a techno producer from the north of The Netherlands who has a fetish for hardware and a keen ear for oldschool house sounds. Cowbells and handclaps are plentyful on his two takes, and so is humour. On the fast-paced 'Claps for Richie' he builds and builds to a blissful liquid break, only to cut it short. What a guy. And what a great EP.

"Bait's first various EP format release 'Baby Steps' is an exploration of steppers: pounding four to the floor kicks, organic percs and an overall 'elephant march' feel. Featuring tracks by five French producers, Strasbourg-based Orchid (half of or+be with Bait founder Beatrice M.), Bruxelles-based Moriiiis J., most-known for his broken-beat project Kuna Maze, as well as Quasar, whose name is well established in the dubstep world with releases on legendary UK labels such as Artikal and Deep Medi to name a couple. Agôn (Few Tips/Trajectoire) & Céline B. (Technorama)'s collaboration opens a door towards the more abstract and contemplative side of bass music with influences such as Shackleton, perfectly closing 'Baby Steps' VEP."

To pin the project to a single sound or genre is near impossible as the textural and aesthetic gradient slides smoothly beyond these barriers.
