Obviously there was life before Boxed. It was a time when instrumental grime music was, truthfully, just as bizarre and unquantifiable as it is now. Yes, I’m being incredibly facetious in saying this, but I’m doing it for good reason. The component members and peripheral artists circling the East London based club night have solidified over the course of their short tenure (they’ve been a crew officially since March 2013) and they’ve yielded some incredibly potent music - often of completely polar opposites. But the fact is, a lot of those winding melodies you’ve heard those people playing, the ones toting those toplines that you can’t quite even start to forget, well they’re by this guy called Murlo. And he’s playing in Room One alongside Elijah & Skilliam for the Butterz gang this Friday night. Ahead of it he's made us this mix...
