I was HOPING to get this out before v2, but I couldn't squeeze it out in time. Many such cases!
Nonetheless, this is probably one of my favorite covers I've ever done! BATW is such a catchy track and I loved being able to do my own take on it!
I think my favorite part of this one is the Lantern section, which I think is saying a lot because that section is probably my LEAST favorite part of the original. It's not bad by any means, of course, I just think it isn't as strong as the rest of the track. I think I managed to do it justice though!
Fun fact: originally, for the Lantern section, I was gonna have a complete tonal switch, where it changed to a super realistic piano VST (or maybe even a live performance...), but I couldn't find a way to integrate it smoothly enough into the rest of the song. Maybe one day we'll get the Live take!
Fun fact 2: I made a deliberate decision to not use the Chrono Trigger piano OR any orchestra hits in this track! Both great instruments, but I find that they're a bit overused in covers of this track and wanted to challenge myself to use some more unique instrumentation. It's a small thing but I think it made the track better overall.

found a funny little project on gamejolt, it wasn't really labeled but i THINK its a deltarune fangame... its been fun so far, i like this track, wanted to add it to my playlists. it was just called "mus_hymn_another" in the files, but i couldn't find the first one anywhere? sorry for the shitty picture, it wont let me screenshot for some reason ... maybe it was because i was in fullscreen mode sometimes there's problems with that.

Happy birthday, Undertale.

A long time ago, there was a project dedicated to getting everyone to pitch in to cover the entire Undertale soundtrack, one person per song. Everyone was randomly assigned a number between 1 and 100, with MEGALOVANIA being reserved for a specific individual who was a pretty notable kingpin in the community at the time. Somehow, I rolled number 71, and was thus assigned the cover of "Undertale".

The cover, which was admittedly much more of a reimagining, never went public as the project never ended up getting far enough for it. I wanted to take this opportunity to finally show this cover to the world, though with a bit of a modern Toadie flair to it. Compositionally it's pretty much exactly what the cover used to sound like, it's just got better instrumentation and mixing.

I've got a lot more thoughts about... well, just about everything that's happened since this wonderful game reached me. Too much, and frankly a little too personal, to just put in the description. Instead, I've prepared and will be adding to this document.
