soyuz21 was founded in 2010 by the composer Gary Berger and guitarist Mats Scheidegger in Zurich. 

soyuz21 is an ensemble in a broad sense, which crosslinks contemporary music with other art forms and with new art spaces. The artistic approach focuses on the variety of forms of communication and the search for new expressive possibilities inside contemporary music.

soyuz21 is a flexible ensemble, consisting of a pool of around 20 musicians and artists, which, depending on the project, formes small to the large groups of people (from the fields of film, dance, literature, live electronics, music, theater, visual arts and mutimedia). The artistic direction tends to favor transdisciplinary thought, so that each project developes in between genres. This modular structure that can arise through different art forms, opens up new perspectives and unexpected relationships.

Generating new ideas is the central concern of soyuz21.
