Solarflairs are a band from Memphis, Tennessee that doesn't sound that way.  Instead, they call the “Big Music” of the alternative 80’s their main influences rather than the usual local suspects.  But, if as Bono of U2 once declared, “the goal is soul”, then Solarflairs stand firmly in the shadows of those iconic Memphis artists, reaching for that same goal.  Serving the SONG is also the goal of the band: well-crafted songs are the basis for their expansive sound.

Bassist, lead vocalist, and native Memphian Elisabeth Eickhoff propels the songs along with melodic, memorable bass lines and a voice that is solidly her own. Greg Gentry (guitars and backing vocals) is still inventing for himself the notion of what a “guitar hero” should be - counting the Edge, Johnny Marr, and Paul Westerberg as his inspirations.  James Cunningham is a Memphis percussion legend, bringing his impressive drum skills to the band from multiple genres of music.

Elisabeth and Greg are a longstanding musical and songwriting partnership. Together they fronted the Atlanta-based band Nillah with critically-acclaimed albums The Power of Pop (Shut Eye Records) and The Sun Show (Two Sheds Records), which spawned a devoted following.  Nillah also tucked performances at the CMJ Music Conference in New York City and Atlanta’s Music Midtown Festival under their collective belt.  After Greg and Elisabeth’s relocation to Memphis in 2014, they conceived of a revised musical direction and Solarflairs was born.  

The band’s first EP release, Stereo Alley, was produced over the latter half of 2016.  The band decided to return to a literal “garage rock” manifesto: writing and recording in Memphis garages and DIY’ing it all.  The sound is authentic power pop with an atmospheric twist, veering from punk-pop to folk rock over six songs.  Stereo Alley is out now on all digital platforms and on physical media via the band’s official website, www.solarflairsband.com.

The Johnny Rebs were founded in Atlanta, GA in the winter of
2012 during a discussion between drummer, David
Williamson, and vocalist/guitar player, Justin Gagnon. A
similar passion for making music, appreciation for great
musical gear, and loud Rock n Roll, brought David and Justin
in to a rehearsal space where they started crafting what would
soon be the groups debut album. During these early rehearsal
sessions, the decision to be more than a duo was made and
Randy Drake was called in to handle bass duties. A power trio
was formed and they hit the local Atlanta scene, guns blazing.
After many successful shows and an EP being tracked, the
decision was made to add a second guitar player to the group
in order to insure the positive evolution of the band’s music
and influence. That second guitar player would be Kailin
Tauxe. Now a four piece, The Johnny Rebs are a full-on Rock
outfit!
The Johnny Rebs have risen quickly into the ranks of one of
Atlanta’s favorite local bands! Recent shows include
performances at The Earl, Star Community Bar, and Smith’s
Olde Bar. The Johnny Rebs blend well with and can
compliment many genres of music from Alt-Folk to Metalcore.
