Timbaland feat. Keri Hilson - The Way I Are (Jesse Bloch Remix)

Following on from Waiting Featuring Samuel Ashton, ABRAM brings a whole new summer vibe to the original Soulful, Orchestral version in this Remix.

When ABRAM originally wrote the song, he could hear and feel a dance/club energy to Waiting and knew he had to make a version of it. He found the perfect producers, Ghost Allez, who got the concept and what he wanted to achieve. Together, they’ve managed to encapsulate the ‘That Friday Feeling’ sound so remembered by everyone who went out and partied in the 90s.

It was also important to keep a modern twist to the arrangement, almost as though this version should be played out at a festival, with DJ and the crowd singing along and dancing. Feel-good factor and positivity are very much a priority for ABRAM on this track.

The version retains the authentic violin and cello string sections from the original, as well as ABRAM’s own samples from a few of his other songs. A tenor sax intro was important to ABRAM, but when his chosen sax player couldn’t make the recording date, he had to rethink.

Luckily, young Felix happened to be on work experience in the studio that week who also played tenor sax. His dad had packed his saxophone in the car boot before leaving, just in case! This was too much of a great empowering opportunity for ABRAM to let pass, and he crossed his fingers that Felix could actually play and pull it off. I’m pleased to report that Felix is present, loud and proud, on Waiting Ghost Allez Mix!

Samuel Ashton’s powerful but soulful vocals finish off the mix, driving the track home and taking its place as one of this summer’s biggest dance anthems.

Blue was the first song I ever sent to my co-writer and producer Trevor Lewington (Enter the Haggis / The Wilderness Club), which began our creative partnership. The chorus came after a frustrating moment at work, and later I found an old journal with a poem I’d written while studying Surrealist poetry. That verse ended up fitting the song’s mood—being misunderstood and feeling blue.
