Better Days

2013 marks the eighteenth anniversary of Suarasama, and the album “Timeline” is produced to commemorate such journey. “Timeline” itself, in this particular work, is a multifaceted word having several meanings. First, it reflects the playing of hemiola 12/8 and 7/8, and other hetero-poly metric rhythmic structures manifested in most parts of musical compositions. Second, the title track “Timeline” represents the journey of musical lutes through a new type of custom made lute instrument, saz-guitar, by way of interpreting the historical origin of plucked lute instruments of the world. This piece was created in a time during “Gaung: the 21st Century Music Education,” a global and holistic music clinic and discussion forum initiated by Sacred Bridge Foundation that took place in Bali, in 2009. Third, it projects “time” within “timelines” as a “remembrance” to Suarasama’s musical path within its 18 years of existence. The album was chose as one of the best album of 2014 (thus far) by Uncut Magaine London, UK.
