So forgive us if you've heard some of these in the past, but we were particularly stoked on how the mixing worked out.

This week in The Armory DJ Influence of San Francisco’s Strategik collective is on the decks dropping one of his signature dark and dirty breaks sets. Press play and enjoy!

Influence started his piratical career in a time called Ye Olden School. Quickly rising through the ranks of deck swabbing, plank laying, wenching, & rumming; his golden years came to end upon the capture of his ship by a band of jolly rogers on the ship Strategik (they were good with a cannon, but not so much with spelling). Locked away in the ship's depths, every night he was told, "Good night, Westley. Good work. Sleep well. I'll most likely kill you in the morning." All seemed lost, so he got into Djing, took over the ship, called himself Influence, and the rest was basically, history... basically.

It is with great pleasure this week we welcome Steve Raskin and Jason 'Qdup' Brown to the RIPEcast for this special throwback mix. I'll let Qdup set the table...

"When Deckard reached out to us about doing a new mix for The Ripecast, he asked if we would think about doing a Jon H dedication mix. Since we’ve already seen a few Fort Knox Five themed tribute sets by various DJ’s released, we thought it would be fun to pull some older tracks that influenced our sound.  As you may or may not know, in the late 90’s and early 00’s  Jason Qdup aka Jayclue, Jon H and Steve Raskin were in a DC area DJ collective called 308 Crew. It was named after the address of the 308 house that we all used to DJ marathon afterhours sets at, and where we all honed our DJ skills together in the Pre Fort Knox Recordings days. This mix is a retrospective of a lot of late 90’s and 00’s era tracks with a few more modern surprises that we would have rocked in our earlier days DJing. Lots of these tunes were from vinyl and were some of our favorite tunes of the era. We had a blast making it and know this mix would put a huge grin on Jon H’s face." - Qdup

I love Halloween. Friday night at Love Boat was epic. It was not too crowded and I was able to spend time in each room without losing my crew.  The Art and sound systems were on point. I really enjoyed myself this year.
The night flew by and finally it was time for my closing set on Unimog stage outside. Murphstar had a full crowd on the dance floor before I started. I had spent a couple weeks working on my set and it all flowed nice!

Ten!  Why Ten?  Ten years DJing?  Nope, that’s ~18.  Actually, it’s been 10 years since I made a proper “studio” mix at home.  I’ve posted many mixes in the last 10 years yet all of them were recorded live (except for one, which I simply re-recorded a previously played live set, but I don’t count that one 😉).  Anyway, I put together my favorite tracks I’ve acquired over the last year (ish) and mixed em for ya.  There’s some good stuff in there, and I hope you enjoy the show!  Peace…kapt’n

Hailing originally from Los Angeles but residing in the Bay Area off and on for 10 years, DJ Celeste Lear is a professional mobile event DJ who owns her own 6,000watt sound system and has run sound for and DJ'd hundreds of events, including over 200 weddings - but - this is really just the tip of the iceberg for Celeste whose sonic history runs deep and includes, possessing a degree in sound engineering and operating her own recording studio, 6 album releases on her own indie label, 50+ original song placements on film, commercial & television, plus a steady 15+ years history of consistently pushing the perameters in the music production & DJ world with her own unique vision for music. Another interesting note is that Celeste is deaf in her right ear from a car accident since she was 16, but does not let this handicap come in the way of her and her quest to ROCK THE WORLD!!! Recent highlights include, DJing at Outside Lands, Public Works, Love Boat Halloween as well as regular gigs for corporate clients such as Apple, Google, MOMA, Dell and StubHub.

Miami Music Week has arrived, with thousands of clubbers and industry members descend upon South Beach and unite for a plethora of events, meetings and parties. Hometown representative Markus Schulz comes to you live from the heart of the action this week, continuing the annual tradition of bringing a flavor of the conference to the Global DJ Broadcast listeners.
