How can the unfamiliar feel so close? Dookuzot, the debut EP by Floid and W92 (aka Woody92), invites listeners to venture into the echo chambers of the psyche on their Omen Wapta imprint. Like a salvaged coat of arms, this 8-track release weaves the cryptic motifs of the blood brothers into its sonic fabric, blending unease with ease through stealthy rhythms and dissonant harmonies. One a sonic visionary, the other a sound artist—together, they transform decades of shared family history into an imaginary realm of the mind.

Pensive yet commanding, Dookuzot unfolds like a labyrinth, where shadowy corridors give rise to textures, shapes, and fragments of memories that never existed. Are you the hunter, or are you being hunted? Neither tempo nor zeitgeist grounds the EP; instead, it conjures a citadel of sound—an intricate fortification of motion and stillness. Like a medieval quest, Dookuzot sends you into the wilderness, armed with arcane energy, urging you to explore the blurred lines between the familiar and the strange. Yet, as one absorbs the full story, a central motif emerges among the obscure artefacts: brotherhood—evoking a shared yet deeply personal ancestral resonance.

Cryptic, unnerving, and undeniably strange, Dookuzot doesn’t ask you to move—it compels you. With this debut, Floid and W92 draw you into their world, setting the stage for a vision that is both enthralling and forward-thinking.

Premiere: Vanta - A Place Between Life and Death [IO:033]

There’s a space between life and death where memory, emotion, and rhythm blur into something unspoken, that’s where Vanta begins. “Between Life and Death”, his debut album on IO Records, draws from personal upheaval, pairing stark introspection with glimmers of defiance. The project navigates the tension between collapse and healing, with tracks like “Intrusive Thoughts” and “Void” oscillating between vulnerability and strength. It’s a record that doesn’t offer resolution, only presence, a sonic companion for those walking their own edge.

Opening with “Dissociative Drift”, Vanta wastes no time setting the emotional temperature. The track feels like falling into a dream you half-remember, bleepy percussion echoing like distant signals, submerged beneath fog-thick drones and viscous synth lines. It’s less a song than a state of mind, evoking the sensation of floating through murky water, unsure if you’re surfacing or sinking. A slow, syncopated pulse guides you, not forward, but inward.

Peregrination is a ritual incantation, a mystical quest orchestrated by Drawbridge. At the crossroads between tribal trance and incantatory techno, this EP invokes the energy of ancient forests and forgotten creatures. Beating drums, enchanted textures and goblin pulses shape a world where dance becomes ceremony. This musical adventure is the result of a clear intention, crafted with an alchemical precision. Two remixes extend the exploration with Blume offering a hypnotic and steamy version, while Forest reveals a more incandescent and telluric aspect. An initiation journey for those ready to cross the threshold.
