i remember all the fun times that we’ve seen
crunching candy cigarettes
enjoying time, and time well spent, and well
it’s funny how times change but stay the same

when i think of all the rainy days inside
and all the times you’d lift me up when i would cry
a heavy heart that needed crutches
was met gently with your touch and
all i wanted from that day was to be yours

when i think about my past self truthfully
i’m reminded of the boy i used to be
someone scared who needed silence
someone hoping that i’d find us
one day standing side by side in harmony

when i think back on the day when you let go
when your fifth grade boyfriend stole you i went cold
though i smiled, i really suffered
