Haven is a place of safety, warmth, and comfort. 


Something a little different from my last few mixes - many of you know me for faster uptempo club mixes, but I also love and dig a lot of slower hypnotic tracks since I started DJing in 2007. I wanted to make a paced-out mix that I could really sink into and feel safe to tap into states of intimacy and warmth.

This mix was recorded on July 26 during one of Clara Tatjana and I's long music sessions in my studio. We were jamming to tunes and she contributed many awesome selections to the tracklist <3

With the current wave of lockdowns and many gig cancellations, I thought it fitting to share this feeling as we all incubate for the next.

To ease the pain and keep the spirit alive until we can dance together again we have something special in store for you all. Our last edition feels like ages ago (and in a way it was) which is why we're extra happy to share the last set that was played in our club before the (second) closing:

The fierce @aframusic did a fantastic job at closing the night after Helena Hauff on the 23rd of Oct. She played a phenomenal set forged with some razor-sharp techno and utter head banging electro so you can take yourself right back to the sweaty dance floor with the recording of this special night.

As one of the original members of rave collective Fast Forward, Schacke is a poster child for the Copenhagen scene: an arcadian playground complete with its own sound, codes and likely soon, diaspora. The DJ/Producer’s boundary-pushing output takes cues from metal, noise, hard trance, techno, you name it, though these stylistic distinctions are maybe less important than Schacke’s grander mission, one of providing ‘simulation therapy’ by way of getting ravers to enter a ‘kind of virtual reality’ in shared space. A few weeks back, the Danish wunderkind packed their gear and did just that, regaling party-goers with a taste of Denmark in Tbilisi. This one’s a live recording of Schacke’s set at Horoom, one of the club’s longest parties to date, a 12 hour set packed with fun and mercurial beats.

Whether you're hearing a track or a DJ set, you can usually tell it's Nene H pretty quickly. In just a few years, Beste Aydin has developed a very specific approach within the realm of techno. She inhabits the genre yet colours just enough outside the lines without losing the plot—or the pull—entirely. The focus is on fun, on groove and on hooks, with sets that dip into trance, electro, ghetto house and even hints of hyperpop, tying in neon threads into techno's all-black garb. 

She's used techno as a jumping off point for orchestral and choral performances, as well as the poignant expression of grief (on her stellar debut album). She's become a regular at Berghain and groundbreaking festivals like CTM, traversing a highbrow-lowbrow line that posits that every kind of dance music deserves the highbrow treatment. Her RA Podcast is an irresistible hour of techno full of what she calls "Neneisms," turns into pop hooks amidst hulking techno beats and dips into funky, electro-informed beats.

DJ/psychotherapist Vincent Neumann is back for his second Bassiani broadcast with as much spark as ever. Known for frequent techno sprints at his home away from home Distillery (as well as Berghain), his no-frills, achromatic sets are well documented. A little less known are his forays into a side of electronic music characterised by levity, jacking 90s stompers, italo hits and shuffling house. This one falls into the second category. Since rolling his musical sleeves up in 2006, the name Voiski has exponentially grown in renown; his endless quest for new sounds manifested across a number of releases and self-started labels like Silicate and Super 95. Add to that a cosmically ordained taste for collaboration that has seen him join forces with names as diverse as Vril, Antigone and Svengalisghost and you have one of the most prolific and exciting names to have come out of France in the last decade. There’s a touch of classic loop techno, noughties electro and a newfound affection for Persian mysticism in his work, eagerly cross-bred to make his inimitable ‘post-trance’ sound.
