This native Italian & Berlin based duo needs no introduction. Mind Against started in 2011 and barely 3 years later they are on the crown jewels of the Life and Death label after showing their incredible studio skill. In 2012 and 2013 they also composed several remixes for, amongst others, WhoMadeWho, Art Department, Róisín Murphy, Green Velvet on labels such as Kompakt, Cocoon Recordings, and Vakant.

Mind Against’ sound is very difficult to describe, but we dare to say that the mixture between house and techno appears to sound very deep, trippy and provocative. When they play it’s a sure thing that one can lose themselves in the music and travel to distant universes while dancing.

Eins der bestimmenden Themen Freitag Nacht bei Freunden elektronischer Klänge war bestimmt das Tanzverbot. Über Sinn und Unsinn wurde wahrscheinlich beim alternativen "sit-in" wieder viel philosophiert. Im Endeffekt können wir heute jedoch alle wieder das Tanzlokal unseres Vertrauens aufsuchen und wieder kräftig die Hüfte kreisen lassen. Idealerweise haben wir am freien Tag ein paar neue Tanzschritte einstudiert die wir gleich mal zum Besten geben. 

Was wäre jedoch wenn dieser schreckliche Zustand das ganze Jahr anhalten würde. Wenn an der Tür des Clubs zu lesen wäre "Tänzer müssen leider draußen bleiben!" Ja dann... dann... dann wären wir in Japan.
Schilder mit der Aufschrift "Please do not dance!" hängen in vielen Bars und Klubs japanischer Großstädte. Das Tanzen an öffentlichen Orten ist nach einem 66 Jahre alten Gesetz nur in Lokalitäten erlaubt, die dafür eine besondere Genehmigung und eine große Tanzfläche haben. Und sogar hier gilt: Wer nach Mitternacht oder an manchen Orten nach 1 Uhr die Hüften kreist, begeht eine Straftat. Nachdem das Gesetz ab 2010 wieder strenger durchgesetzt wurde, mussten viele Techno-Clubs in Japan schließen.
Grund dafür das 1948 erlassene Fueiho-Gesetz. Ein Gesetz das so unglaublich klingt, dass es ins Kuriositätenkabinett gehört. Grund genug uns ein mal mit der Clubkultur in Japan auseinanderzusetzen, die es trotz des Gesetzes immer noch gibt. Die Szene ist wieder in den Untergrund gewandert und die elektronische Musik lebt im verborgenen fort.
Unser heutiger Meister der Unterhaltung Paul McRough hat sich in dieser Schattenwelt umgesehen und uns seine Eindrücke im Form von Schall und Rauch mitgebracht. Sein Fazit: "Es ist das schöne an Musik, sie können sie dir nicht nehmen".
Und so hat auch in Japan ein Gesetz den Menschen nicht die Freude am bewegten Umgang mit der Musik genommen.

Montreal's own Mitch Oliver takes over for the latest Selectors edition. XYZ fans will be familiar with his recent release Alleghanys and Same Light, both teeming with warm grooves. He's made quite an impact in recent months, appearing on the likes on Kindisch and Akbal, and Oliver is certainly one to watch as we dive deeper into the new year. He's presented quite the journey for his debut on Selectors, taking us through intricate melodies, hearty rhythms, captivating instrumentals.

In the year of 1979 I was born in a city of Turkey, Istanbul. My interest to music started from my childhood. When I was young I listen rock and metal music mostly. While I was singing in some bands I found myself as a popular dance music listener suddenly. Those days I started to prepare mixes through cassettes to my friends and groups. Then I came across with progressive house and trance music. Since 2000’s to nowadays I played music in some small events. However I had to give a break to music for some reasons. Now my love raises again. In my sets I love play melodic, progressive tracks and dark sounds more. I love techno music so much. Each of my set has their own story and rather than one genre I would prefer various genres for both playing and listening. Thanks for listening to me
