Lo, they named it The Ritual—though its form bore none of the solemn majesty the name implied.
No sacred oils nor shrouded priests attended that hour.
No chanting beneath vaults of stone.
No star-forged blades of sacrifice.

Only a trusting piglet, a mother frayed on prayer-beads and sleepless vows,
and a Boar from The Circle:
that ring of folding-chairs and false absolution,
where forgiveness was bartered like grain,
and memory vanished as if swallowed by a marsh.

“An afternoon only,” the Boar had murmured,
“a kindness, a measure of support.
Perhaps even a sweet cup of frozen cream.”

Thus, weary and undone,
the Hen surrendered her child as one sets down a warm loaf upon another’s table.
“He is in good hands,” they told her.
And so the doom was sealed.

Beloved was the Boar.
Praised, trusted—
a Safe Space in cargoed raiment.
But when solitude fell and no eyes remained,
the mask slipped like a ragged curtain,
and his true visage, sharpened and vast, emerged.

Softly at first came the weaving of snares—
a voice low and lulling,
nods that mimicked mercy,
the rhythmic tongue of recovery-speech.

Then, sudden as a thunderclap,
he drew forth not a relic nor rune,
but a Power-Drill—
corded, weighty,
a tool of earth and tarps and hidden shame.

The piglet did not cry out.
He fled inward,
mind drifting to some dim refuge,
body blinking like a puppet who at last knows it bleeds.

And the Boar wrought his craft:
gentle as a hymn,
merciless as commandment.
He set triggers in the soul,
breathed sweet nothings salted with brimstone,
pressed visions of muck—filthy, glistening, profane and yet nearly holy—
not enough to understand, only to echo.

When all was done,
the Boar bestowed a juice-box as a parting grace,
and whispered, “Thou art doing well.”
Then he left him at the threshold as one returns a borrowed tome.

The Circle clapped.
The Hen exhaled.
And the piglet—
he smiled as the well-trained smile,
a survivor carved to obedience,
bearing a secret so dark it had yet to learn its name.

Thus ended The Ritual:
no robes, no relics—
only a wound with a parking token,
a silent hour’s descent into programming, panic, and pleasure,
scored by the wild songs of Mogo, LSDXOXO, DJ Bone,
and others who have tasted the forging of obedience.
