Starting around the late 90´s as a radio producer and host of a show dedicated exclusively to output electronic music in his hometown. Gustavo Moreno better known these days as @moreon, started his career working in the radio, then throwing raves in his town in the early 00´s, creating his own record label, managing bookings in local clubs and recently in Barcelona where he relocated since 2011. Also between all this, has been devotedly collecting & spinning records since more than 20 years, getting known for exposing a unique "avant-garde" music selection thru a longtime perfectioned technique. Lately he grabbed global attention with his duo project along Emidio Falconi known as Moreon & Baffa. Between 2015/2019 they have released works in labels like: @visionquest-records, @social-experiment-records-749312087, @berg_audio, @subwax-bcn, @no19music, and his own label BUDARE among others, and also bringing his act to many of the best clubs and events around the globe.

POOLcast 056 - Franco Bellavita

For the start into the second half of the year we invited Franco Bellavita to record a POOLcast for you. Franco has dedicated himself to the world of creativity for years and moves between visual and sonorous media.

Looking at Franco's work, be it his early musical works under the moniker Pachyderme on 31337 records or sleep is commercial, or the works he created with his analog camera, you will notice his commitment to pure, free and unbiased art. This is underlined even more by his further career. Ambient, jazz, drone, analog photography and handmade collages speak for his dedication to art, which, when you look at it, raises the question of what came first, the work or the inspiration? Does devotion create art or is devotion a product of art ? This mental dilemma regarding causality is also reflected in Franco's POOLcast. The construct of ambient, drone and jazz creates a musical palindrome, where the listener has to face the question of causality. What is beginning, what is end, what is the notion, what is the work. Everything interlocks organically and meaningfully, so that it seems difficult to determine whether the idea has become a work of art or whether the work creates an idea.

This is the first Sol Asylum Reflections VA series that will be exclusively available on bandcamp. This digital VA is an adaption to the unsure and challenging times in our industry. This Collection of tracks is a mirror into the sol’s of our artists in this retrospection period.  
We believe that now more than ever we must find ways to financially support our artists so they can continue to perfect their craft and stay motivated so SA is waving its earnings after expenses and will give 100 percent of the profit directly to the the artists involved in this project.

POOLcast 057 - Demas

The POOLcast in August comes from Demas, founder of Klangscheiben and POOL co-founder. Known for his error funk techno and dub love, he has turned the record boxes upside down for POOLcast and made us a set that fits into the POOLcast series without any effort and gives clear hints about his musical background.

This raises the following question: Is there such a thing as a fixed, predetermined musical origin or in other words, a definite musical taste at all? There has been research on the origin of musical taste since music has been reproduced. First of all, your parents or your circle of friends are often the first people to be referred to, as they will cement the cornerstones of your taste in music in your education or adolescence. This also coincides wonderfully with the realization that musical taste and personality interfere. Without question, no doubt, extroverted listening to pop and introverted to jazz. Which is confirmed by the next study, namely the one that exposes the jazz lovers among you as emotionally cold rationalists who prefer to analyze music rather than melt away with heartbreaking soft rock ballads. Well, for every moment there is the right music, taste or not. Besides, you get older, more experienced, more open and tolerant. Wrong. Because another study shows that at 30 years old the case is closed. We always listen to the same thing, because job and family don't give us time for discovering. So question answered, the musical origin or personal musical taste is clearly definable and inevitable. Maybe we should make a study of our POOLcast series to verify the results. Could go wrong, first indication "POOLcast 057 - Demas".

POOLcast 057 - Demas

Having won approval and success in its debut release, the spclnch vinyl series continues with the release of a second record from Wiesbaden producer – Peter Fanai.
Weighty, spacious bass pleiades fill the sound field, erase the consequences of duality and, flowing into the viscous full-bodied substance of verified sound design, it would seem that they will momentarily shift the tectonic plates of the electronic genre.
Maestro Basicnoise is again involved in the spatial enrichment of textural proportions of reverberation and percussion. This time, their sequence runs under the quality mark of the Australian-German collaboration. The accurate Kooscha warms up the sensorics with elegant dance manipulations and a distinct rhythm, and the related association Echoton traditionally introduces a tart concentrate of meaningful thoughts.
The rich aftertaste of variable electronic abstractions takes the subconscious and musical outlook to a different plane.
Now you are more than an observer.

Spacelunch (short. spclnch) is a Dutch electronic music label with an emphasis on the dub sound founded in Minsk in 2019 by Thomas Carmody (@thomascarmody). The key ethical principles are an individual approach and a careful selection which allows you to get the best possible from the communication with artists.

The concept of releases is dedicated to a fantastic multimedia universe. The space adventures of Spacelunch and Cat unfold in episodes of an interactive musical comic. Each of them has an original script, and they are connected by a consistent storyline.
