Italian artist Matisa today reveals details of Tongue, a new four-track EP for Peggy Gou’s Gudu label. The lead single, also titled ‘Tongue’, is out now.

Born in Rome but based in Florence, Matisa has become one of dance music’s most talked-about ascendant talents, releasing music on some of the most critically acclaimed labels on the circuit - including Optimo Music, Steel City Dance Discs, On Loop and Permanent Vacation - with DJs such as Ben UFO, Peach, Shanti Celeste, Eris Drew, Sally C, Mall Grab and more supporting her music.

With four tracks that range from sun-drenched piano house to mid-tempo breaks, with a narrative flow that rewards listening to it as a full EP rather than picking tracks, Tongue showcases Matisa’s full range as an artist - resulting in perhaps her most all-encompassing release yet; a true showcase of what makes her such a special talent.

In Matisa’s own words, “This EP is a musical journey. I wanted each track to represent a stage of this journey, from departure to take-off, peak time and closing. I went deep into what the journey is for me and my ambition to make it all come alive with my very first vocal, and felt Tongue was the track to explore this expression.”

“This EP is a really special one for me. I tried to put everything into it”, she continues. “‘Brunela’ is dedicated to my Father, ‘Lusia’ to my Mother; ‘Sunrose’ for my love for flowers, and ‘Tongue’ to the feeling of passion and romance. I hope this EP will take listeners on this beautiful journey, just as it did for me when creating it.”

When I called my friend Walter Ricci to collab on some music , my first goal was to go “back to music” , back to played instruments , real bass guitar , real emotions ! The song was born when we were chilling in the
studio, playing music from artists like Coltrane, Jamiroquai, and Incognito, and this is what we came up with. 
“Head on my shoulder” deserved also an amazing artwork made by the legend Riccardo Ferrara that translates the feelings of the song into an illustration!

Few people are welcome in the depths of the oceanic abyss of Iguazu. Nevertheless, even an experienced lawbreaker is ready to help those honourable seekers who have got into trouble. Behind his innocent appearance hide a lot of chilling deeds. The conversation has begun with an unpleasant topic.

— To give strangers a decent reception is a matter of honour! However, remember that I despise those who visit unexpectedly.
— Thank you for your hospitality! And yeah, sorry for what happened in the information storage last time. You see, the feverish rush didn’t allow us…
— Enough excuses, Spacelunch! You were aware of the degree of responsibility. If that visit had been announced in advance, you both would have already slept with the fishes. The only thing I respect is courage. By the way, what is the name of this funny thing under your nose?

The tension eased. It was time to get instructions and discuss the task that would be the payment for the crucial help. It may be difficult to justify some goals by means, but some circumstances require decisive action.

In their attempts to find any clues to Graves' whereabouts, they'd been going over the key memories stored as terabytes of data on USB drives for hours, all in vain.

– Cat, can we just call it a night? Looks like we got nothing.
– We'll search as long as it takes! We must be missing something...

Plugging in another flash disk, the professor dived into the endless labyrinths of mind. Moving through the foggy streets of Chinatown, he scrutinized even the most insignificant details. Once in a narrow alleyway, a lamppost came into view, on which there was glued, among many others, an old advertisement: "Implement an idea into an individual's mind through dreaming." Spacelunch disconnected from the neural processor that same moment and cried: "This is it!" Now they knew exactly what to do next.

The limited edition record by Vincent Raude (Upwellings), a French cultivator of deep-sea dub techno streams, comes from the bowels of analog synthesizers. Its sound makes sense and steadily penetrates into the auditory range, expressing the interactive-spatial evolution of music.
Peter Fanai (Basicnoise), a lover of subtle dubby jams, producing from late 90s and consistent, methodical electronic pedant from Sydney Kyryl Polozyuk (Kooscha) made a vinyl contribution.
