Since forming over a decade ago, Seaweed Rhythm has quietly established itself as one of the most consistent and lovingly curated labels on the European underground circuit. Founded by Stockholm-based artist Zlene, the label has grown from a grassroots platform for close friends and local talent into an internationally respected outlet that’s home to some of minimal’s most cherished names – think Melchior Productions Ltd, Silat Beksi, and Priku. But behind the heavyweight roster and steadily growing discography is a genuine sense of community, care, and curiosity that drives everything they do.

Operating out of a studio near the sea, Zlene and his collaborators have long infused their work with a palpable connection to nature. Whether through field recordings, aquatic textures, or the subtle activism of donating label profits to wildlife causes, Seaweed Rhythm’s identity is shaped as much by its environment as it is by the dancefloor. There’s a tactile, almost hand-made quality to each release – from the analogue warmth of the sound design to the tattoo-inspired sleeve artwork painted by long-time friend Thure Melander.

Alongside co-running NEU, a beloved basement club in central Stockholm, and hosting intimate events across Sweden and Europe, Zlene has created something that feels both expansive and personal. With a string of standout releases on the horizon, including a new vinyl EP with Egyptian artist Shadi Megallaa and contributions from the likes of Iuly.B and Andu Simion, Seaweed Rhythm’s steady momentum shows no signs of slowing. But at its core, the ethos remains the same: make and share music with love, and let the rest flow naturally. Selekt Sounds proudly launches its vinyl-only imprint Selekt Wax with an evocative EP from Dragomir, one of Bucharest’s most prominent voices in minimal. Deeply introspective yet effortlessly hypnotic, this record is a meditation on space, tension, and the emotional resonance of stripped down groove. Each track pulses with a quiet intensity—crafted with care, driven by instinct, and tuned to the inner ear.

Etched on the sleeve, a poem sets the tone:

the space between the sounds
expansion and contraction
allow what comes up to flow
ebb like the ocean waves
keeping in time with the synchrony

The casino, tucked away in an old freight terminal, had no name on the facade. Locals simply called it “The Hum” — a place where you could lose your money, and maybe even your mind. The air was thick with tobacco smoke and cheap perfume, and the ceiling sank into a pulsing dim light.

Spacelunch passed a row of slot machines, where regulars pressed the buttons like condemned souls, and stopped at the roulette table. Fraudlin, a scrawny gambling addict with a blank expression, was sucking the last puff out of a cigarette butt as if no one else existed. Suddenly, a figure in a long coat appeared beside him.

— You only show up when things get tough.
— Fair. Today I need your ears.
— Heard about Cat. Word is, the bracelet has changed hands — more than once. And not just the bracelet. Some data on your whereabouts, too.
— Any idea who’s behind it?

Fraudlin flicked the ash, watching the roulette pill slide into a black slot.
— Rumour has it the trail runs through the old customs department. A lot of middlemen down there are working under the Corporation’s wing. Too neat to be a coincidence.
— You think Cat set me up?
— Sometimes it’s easier to blame the closest one than to admit you got outplayed.

Silence fell, full of second-guesses and afterthoughts. Spacelunch reached into his coat and tossed a credit chip onto the pile of chips.

— Let me know if anything new comes up.
— Don’t worry. The Hum hears everything. Keep my channel open.

Spacelunch (short. spclnch) is a Dutch electronic music label with an emphasis on the dub sound founded in Minsk in 2019 by Thomas Carmody (@thomascarmody). The key ethical principles are an individual approach and a careful selection which allows you to get the best possible from the communication with artists.

The concept of releases is dedicated to a fantastic multimedia universe. The space adventures of Spacelunch and Cat unfold in episodes of an interactive musical comic. Each of them has an original script, and they are connected by a consistent storyline.
