Madloch's Sound Avenue imprint presents the sixth installment of it's 'Correlation' series. Released in August of 2017, the inaugural edition featured a unique blend of untapped talent along with industry veterans, resulting in a cohesive fusion of artists from across the world. The label's borderless music policy was also well represented, showcasing a wide spectrum of electronica, from organic house to melodic house and deeper progressive grooves. In past editions, Sound Avenue has kept the track selection concise, with an average of just ten submissions making the final release. The continued growth of label affiliates 3rd Avenue, Crossfade Sounds, and Future Avenue have propelled the label's demo submissions exponentially across the last years. Bursting onto the Progressive House scene in mid-2020, Fausto Javier Loza has carved out quite a name for himself with his FJL production moniker. Since a debut on Balkan United, the Argentinean producer has found his music allied to such esteemed imprints as sister Madlochs Sound Avenue and 3rd Avenue, Roger Martinezs HIGHER STATES and Mangos all-conquering Mango Alley. Now the Rosario resident from the province of Sante Fe, debuts on Proportion with a 3-track EP of the highest order as FJL presents his Alter Ego / Losstower / Rare Wizards EP. With a deep, fizzing bassline narrative running throughout the triptych, Alter Ego is a chunky rhythmic powerhouse that sees a chest-thumping kick paired with a deliciously grooved bass pattern creating a sublime rolling pattern. A kaleidoscopic array of effects and risers are scattered across the 6-minute piece as a delicate arpeggiated melody gradually evolves from the low-end foundation. Pulsating white-noise washes and a hypnotic dance-floor vibe add to proceedings in an impressive opener. A Tech House vibe infuses Losstower with its plethora of stereo-panned effects and sub-bass groove. A series of cleverly treated vocal effects add to the sonic melange with their eerie overtones, while meticulously programmed hats and shakers provide dancefloor urgency. Subtle melodic flourishes add to the overall feel and the result is a production masterclass from the FJL studio. The final offering sees Rare Wizards immediately showcase its club-friendly credentials through house rhythm and hypnotic bass sequence. In keeping with its partner tracks, a flurry of deep, dark and powerful effects make their presence felt alongside evolving textures and immaculate melodic touches. Layer upon layer of evermore intricate sounds come to the fore, felt especially keenly at the powerfully pulsing breakdown, before returning to the dramatic rhythmic urgency and plethora of effects that create a track bringing to mind such maestros such as John Digweed, Quivver and Jamie Stevens.

The return from Proxima Centauri b has brought unexpected but pleasant news, so tonight a cosy apartment in the heart of Chinatown is hosting guests. Their conversation is flowing between deductive battles, humour, and music. With so much happening around them, such a friendly gathering is the best remedy for stress.

— So great to see you all! Make yourselves at home while I am grabbing some drinks and putting on a record.
— Cat and I are completely exhausted. Thanks for the invitation, Mel! And could you grab a couple of ice cubes too?
— As soon as I heard that our comrade had reappeared, I knew we had to discuss the news face-to-face.

The laboratory, now reduced to splinters, left more questions than answers. Was Graves nearby at the moment of the explosion? Had he known about their impending visit? One way or another, his obsession with obtaining the dodecahedron and his recklessness could become a serious problem for the professor.

— I’m sure the trap for Nomad was a tactical move meant to force you to go all in, Doc.
— I know, Cat. But I still can’t figure out who gave the order for the ambush. What if it was a setup?

Spacelunch tried to push away the thoughts of betrayal, but sometimes they echoed louder than reason. The fear of losing friends had taken root somewhere in his childhood, and now the doubt was beginning to sprout from those seeds.

Roger Martinez’s Higher States opens the spring season by welcoming Hobin Rude to the label for his debut EP. Hailing from Serbia, Hobin Rude first emerged in 2020 on the strength of a remix for Jelly For The Babies One Of A Kind imprint. His progressive sounds quickly found favour with the genre's premiere tastemakers in Armen Miran, Eelke Kleijn, Guy Mantzur, Hernan Cattaneo and Nick Warren, eventually leading to releases via Hoomidaas, Juicebox Music, Mango Alley, Plattenbank, Sudbeat, The Soundgarden and WARPP. Also an established DJ, the Belgrade resident has played across the globe, showcasing his keen sense of dancefloor dynamics alongside elite international talents Guy J, Roy Rosenfeld, Tim Green and Volen Sentir, amongst others. With 2025 already yielding key projects for iNU and Mango Alley, Hobin now adds Higher States to his resume with ‘Lunar Bloom’. 

Beginning with ‘Lunar Bloom’, Hobin showcases a groovy melodic approach which sets the tone for the EP. Full of alluring textures and smooth design qualities, the Serbian phenom expertly blends plush kick drums and warm shapely grooves, with haunted vocal refrains, rebounding rhythms and emerging atmospheres, for a captivating path into the break. Further revealing his creative attitude across the interlude, it’s a cinematic array of texture which emerges to reveal bucolic motifs and plucked melodies for a hopeful moment, before getting washed away in a rush of beats and percussion for an uplifting finale.  

The second and final selection ‘Eclipse Harmony’ finds Hobin collaborating with fellow countryman Nikola Jovanovic. Best known for his releases via Balkan Connection and Deep Down Music, the Belgrade resident pairs wonderfully with Hobin, as the duo forecasts balmy textures and panning effects, atop punchy beats and deep pulsating grooves, for what results in a haunting atmospheric journey that’s perfect for the morning hours.
