Fresh from the Dutch dub techno, and house label, Spclnch (read Spacelunch) is the forthcoming Labyrinth EP from the mysterious Mielafon. Full to the brim with groove and feeling, our premiere for today lands squarely on Alexander Bogdanov and his take on the title track.

Building upon the melodic cues from the original, the Minsk based Bogdanov takes things in a decidedly more subdued fashion. Letting the chords develop and swell to the forefront, all while peppering in bits of texture, of claps, a hiss here and there. These details all lend towards a warm overall feeling that works well within the confines of bass-line and staccato like high-hats.

Alexander Bogdanov’s remix, and in turn the rest of the EP will be out on Spclnch October 14th.

PREMIERE: Mielafon – Labyrinth (Alexander Bogdanov Remix) [spclnch]

The path to the sacred altar at the foot of the mountain of Monuments wound through the ruins of the Dead City that resembled an ancient Phoenician settlement. There was only one thing that was alarming here — strong landscape distortions. The web of streets and blocks weaved endless patterns, rounding the corners and drawing strange, sometimes impossible geometry. Dilapidated palace towers with mysterious frescoes and time-worn colonnades reminded of a once prosperous state. The smell of decay and the cold shade of the fortress walls reminded of the times of padishahs and sultans who greedily fought for the throne.

- What are you thinking about all the time?! - Spacelunch exclaimed nervously, anticipating the answer in advance.
- Well, do you remember the last time something like this happened and...
The professor cut him off in disgust:
- Come on, it's all over with him!
- To find a way out, we must activate mechanisms that change the route, - Cat immediately noticed.
- But this is possible only with the help of the hectopod – the totem of optical illusions, you know?

Better Day

Having approved the schematics of teleportation through a secure channel, the newly-born wanderers used the quantum overpass as the shortest route to the ancient Temple of Knowledge. Its guests have long been mastering the energy of the deforming vector that serves as a building block in the generation of new worlds.

– It's creepy here! These strange noises are alarming.
– Cat, distortions of reality in such places happen all the time. Hmm, who’s this looming on the horizon...?

The approaching silhouette raised his palm in a friendly manner and greeted them with a telepathic message: "Will and common sense." A monk of the Alpha Centauri Order supervised the mystical practices of the Smorings, which were overlooked by modern science. In order to plan all the stages of revenge, it was necessary not only to adopt a thorough approach, but also to resort to the help of an otherworldly force.

In their attempts to find any clues to Graves' whereabouts, they'd been going over the key memories stored as terabytes of data on USB drives for hours, all in vain.

– Cat, can we just call it a night? Looks like we got nothing.
– We'll search as long as it takes! We must be missing something...

Plugging in another flash disk, the professor dived into the endless labyrinths of mind. Moving through the foggy streets of Chinatown, he scrutinized even the most insignificant details. Once in a narrow alleyway, a lamppost came into view, on which there was glued, among many others, an old advertisement: "Implement an idea into an individual's mind through dreaming." Spacelunch disconnected from the neural processor that same moment and cried: "This is it!" Now they knew exactly what to do next.

I close my eyes and I'm there, on tour with one of the bands that helped start this whole thing. Three guys pumping power and life into thousands of moving bodies. Swarms of beautiful girls swaying. I always dreamed of life on the road. Sweat. Summer. Sex.

My mind flashes. The Green takes the stage. These harmonies are mind-bending. The beat- hypnotic, pulsing. I'm so lucky to be part of this magic.

I open my eyes and head tilted back, I soak up Pepper's new single, "Start You Up" (The Green Version). I finally get my fix. Their 2013 self-titled album kept me pushing forward and since then I've been waiting for someone to take me back. I had been out of the game for two years when I was reintroduced to the scene by two of Hawaii's biggest powerhouses.

Pepper and The Green made me remember why I do what I do. I had forgotten the sound of laughter in a green room- what it's like to travel the country with close friends. They taught me how to tour again.

My gratitude is palpable as I groove to this track. Pepper has teamed up with The Green's Brad Watanabe to create something crisp and fresh, new yet familiar. Something indescribably and uniquely Pepper, with a twist of Green. It gets dirty, flowing through ambiance and dub, before being wiped clean and polished with a shine. Perhaps that's just what comes from putting these two together. IMG_6293

Brad welcomed the collab: "It was awesome to do this remix, I grew up listening to and jamming songs off Kona Town and always looked up to these guys."

As did I, as did all of my friends. Thanks for taking me back. Thanks for the memories of a time when I only dreamed of this life, and of a time when I was brought back to life through this music. The limited edition record by Vincent Raude (Upwellings), a French cultivator of deep-sea dub techno streams, comes from the bowels of analog synthesizers. Its sound makes sense and steadily penetrates into the auditory range, expressing the interactive-spatial evolution of music.
Peter Fanai (Basicnoise), a lover of subtle dubby jams, producing from late 90s and consistent, methodical electronic pedant from Sydney Kyryl Polozyuk (Kooscha) made a vinyl contribution.
