Invisible, Inc. welcomes yet another local Glaswegian talent onboard - this time in the form of modular synth wizard Ty Lumnus.
Ty Lumnus aka Fraser Rowan has been on the Glasgow music scene right under our noses for longer than we'd like to admit...as part of The Lava Experiments, cCmndhr and others, releasing music on labels such as Sunday Best and Bricolage for decades.
With the Ty Lumnus project, Rowan has fully embraced
experimenting and improvising with a modular synth array, selling almost all of his hardware synths to fund his modular set-up in the 5 or 6 years since its inception, in favour of the latter's immediacy and ease of experimentation.
Every Friday, a new video jam is released on Ty Lumnus' Youtube channel. Each piece is completely improvised and played live, with no tweaks. It was these live experiments that caught the eye of Invisible, Inc. label boss GK Machine.
The "Stretching Beyond The Furthest Station" EP features two
of these jams, both of which are altered only fractionally for release here. They are very much true to how they first appeared on Youtube....live and improvised.
As well as the two original cuts the EP features a radio edit and dub mix by label boss GK Machine, the latter of which channels the spirit and energy of the late, great Mr Andrew Weatherall resulting in a
dancefloor friendly, psych-O-delic dub odyssey drenched in so much Space Echo it would make Lee "Scratch" Perry proud.

It wasn't an easy choice but @lenawillikens remix of ‘Orutu Run' presents a tribalistic trance-y take on the original. High pitched howls and whistles serve as awakening to the listener from the convulsed and hypnotic underlying groove.

Scenario founder Sebo K drops his debut LP - a seven track mini-album - entitled ‘Patience’ on Rekids in November.

Reflecting on 15 years as a producer, Sebo K has an admirable discography but recent years have been particularly exciting. The German producer’s continual rise includes recent releases on Bass Culture, Robsoul Recordings and Tsuba, whilst his vinyl-only label Scenario has been putting out wax featuring Ian Pooley, DJ Honesty, Jus Ed, Dan Curtin, DJ Deep and Diego Krause. Having cemented a reputation for consistently quality house music, Sebo K’s debut on Rekids exhibits a refreshing sound from the established artist.

Echoing notes and ethereal chords usher in ‘Paradigm Change’ as breakbeats join a moody bassline for the release’s opening cut. Picking up the pace, rattling percussion, ghostly pads and sci-fi inspired synths make up ‘Xhale’, whilst syncopated drums and eerie atmospherics see Sebo edge more towards electro in ‘Transitions’.

Breaks make a welcome return in ‘Restless (Darkness Mix)’, a suspenseful track complete with ominous synths and elements of rave, contrasting to the otherworldly and futuristic aesthetic of ‘Eyes Wide Open’. Amongst the seven tracks are two instrumental numbers called ‘Messier 78’ and ‘Atlantis’, which feature twinkling melodies and serene strings to add a cinematic touch to the overall package.

The A-side keeps it spacious, a relentless stepper for the early hours.
Side B is music for autobahns, starlight soul for the post-club cruisers.

Spacelunch (short. spclnch) is a Dutch electronic music label with an emphasis on the dub sound founded in Minsk in 2019 by Thomas Carmody (@thomascarmody). The key ethical principles are an individual approach and a careful selection which allows you to get the best possible from the communication with artists.

The concept of releases is dedicated to a fantastic multimedia universe. The space adventures of Spacelunch and Cat unfold in episodes of an interactive musical comic. Each of them has an original script, and they are connected by a consistent storyline.
