BIGOD 20 - THE BOG

Fresh from the Dutch dub techno, and house label, Spclnch (read Spacelunch) is the forthcoming Labyrinth EP from the mysterious Mielafon. Full to the brim with groove and feeling, our premiere for today lands squarely on Alexander Bogdanov and his take on the title track.

Building upon the melodic cues from the original, the Minsk based Bogdanov takes things in a decidedly more subdued fashion. Letting the chords develop and swell to the forefront, all while peppering in bits of texture, of claps, a hiss here and there. These details all lend towards a warm overall feeling that works well within the confines of bass-line and staccato like high-hats.

Alexander Bogdanov’s remix, and in turn the rest of the EP will be out on Spclnch October 14th.

PREMIERE: Mielafon – Labyrinth (Alexander Bogdanov Remix) [spclnch]

The path to the sacred altar at the foot of the mountain of Monuments wound through the ruins of the Dead City that resembled an ancient Phoenician settlement. There was only one thing that was alarming here — strong landscape distortions. The web of streets and blocks weaved endless patterns, rounding the corners and drawing strange, sometimes impossible geometry. Dilapidated palace towers with mysterious frescoes and time-worn colonnades reminded of a once prosperous state. The smell of decay and the cold shade of the fortress walls reminded of the times of padishahs and sultans who greedily fought for the throne.

- What are you thinking about all the time?! - Spacelunch exclaimed nervously, anticipating the answer in advance.
- Well, do you remember the last time something like this happened and...
The professor cut him off in disgust:
- Come on, it's all over with him!
- To find a way out, we must activate mechanisms that change the route, - Cat immediately noticed.
- But this is possible only with the help of the hectopod – the totem of optical illusions, you know?

The New Jazz

Instantly, everything was covered with a veil of toxic fog. Suffocating fumes rolled into the respirators in dense corrosive clouds, which made it difficult for Cat to make out the readings of the holographic gas analyzer. The surface of the Mesozoic planet has an aggressive chemical composition, so finding a radioisotope generator stuck here is not an easy task.

Fortunately, a twilight pterosarius with an unusual structure of the respiratory system, who was tamed by Spacelunch in one of his travels, appeared out of nowhere. Its massive, webbed wings serve as the walls of a vacuum capsule, and its lungs, like a filter, create an atmosphere familiar to humans. The help turned out to be very useful. It's time to focus on the clicks of the dosimeter and detect the power source.

Konduku returns to the Delsin Mantis series with an exciting double pack that dives deeper into his remarkable fractured rhythms and light-touch synthesis. Over the course of nine tracks, Ruben Üvez straddles the space between introspective headphone trips and hypnotizing dancefloor elegance, operating in a liminal zone of fluid tempos, submerged atmospheres, and pointillist beats. It's an open-ended but clear-sighted approach that aligns perfectly with the direction of the Mantis series. Monument premieres the track "Derinkuyu" from the release, which will be out on the 14th of October.

In their attempts to find any clues to Graves' whereabouts, they'd been going over the key memories stored as terabytes of data on USB drives for hours, all in vain.

– Cat, can we just call it a night? Looks like we got nothing.
– We'll search as long as it takes! We must be missing something...

Plugging in another flash disk, the professor dived into the endless labyrinths of mind. Moving through the foggy streets of Chinatown, he scrutinized even the most insignificant details. Once in a narrow alleyway, a lamppost came into view, on which there was glued, among many others, an old advertisement: "Implement an idea into an individual's mind through dreaming." Spacelunch disconnected from the neural processor that same moment and cried: "This is it!" Now they knew exactly what to do next.

Berlin-based house producer Johannes Albert comes through with his new Palm Saturdays EP for Klamauk.

Albert’s first release was the Wooden Pearls 12″ on Oskar Offermann’s White back in 2010. Since then he’s kept busy releasing EPs on labels such as Jackoff, Tieffrequent, and his own Frank Music. He also released the Hotel Novalis album in 2013.

Palm Saturdays is the eighth release on Tilman’s Klamauk label, following on from the label head’s own Transmissions EP. We’re premiering Christopher Rau’s excellent remix of the EP’s lead track, ‘Frentic Moment’.

The original cut kicks off with a carnival beat underpinned by a fidgety bassline. It then settles down into a welcoming groove flecked with warm summery keys, perfect for rolling down Bavarian hillsides.

Rau’s remix is tooled for the dancefloor but keeps the general vibe intact. He submerges the bass and frames Albert’s heavenly sounds with his own vigorous 808 workout, before the final third brings everything down to a gentle simmer.
