Not so long ago in 2017, the first release on Michiel Claus’ and Ailsa Cavers’ Basic Moves saw the light of day and especially the shine of night. Produced by founding father Walrus, BM01 set the tone for a record label that focuses on releasing hidden archives from the 90s, whilst combining them with modern club music from the here and now. By highlighting the musical heritage of the Belgian electronic music scene, the label illustrates the continuity between past and present, history and shaping identities of 21st-century artists, undeniably building on the strong foundations of their forerunners. 
 
Seven years and nineteen releases later, Basic Moves is rounding off the series with BM20, a final double 12’’ by one of the major figures from the Belgian underground: Circadian Rhythms also known as Dj Deg. After many years of collecting, deejaying and producing music, his musical spectrum ranges from synth, library and wave, to jazz, funk and disco, from house to techno. His journey started in clubs like Bocaccio (1988 - 1993), and La Gaité (1979 –1989), where young Deg came across deejay’s like Olivier Pieters or Eric Beysens who made him choose the path of becoming a devoted disc jockey himself. 
 
BM20 is a sonic witness of Deg’s first musical encounters with his machines, revealing a withdrawn selection of six bedroom patchwork tracks produced between the years of ‘93 & ’99, a time without the internet or user manuals to help you solve the riddles of technology. Though only at the very beginning of his creative process, Deg’s unique personality is nevertheless already clearly identifiable: blending techno with jazz, where the sharp edges of 16-step drum-sequences are smudged and bent in different directions. 
  
In the lower countries, the second half of the 90s was a period of fast & funky, happy Detroit, 140 BPM techno. Whenever Deg was not oscillating between record shops or gigs and had a moment on his own, mostly during morning hours after the club, he would spend his leftover energy in the studio. Either by himself or with his loyal ally Mike DMA, he would benefit from these moments to slow down and give space to a different, introverted sound – processing moods, feelings and thoughts. This record therefore gathers only a few of many (unrecorded) one-shot live sessions which were never intended to be shared – and only existed for the love of music and its power to take you beyond all things known.   
 
Thank you Deg for sharing your music and giving us a glimpse of your universe. Without your productions, your memorable warm-ups and closing sets – many of us would not be where we are now, and Basic Moves might never have been founded. 
As a last note to a closing song, BM20 is about being fully committed to the music and the club, a medium and place of fruitful settings for encounters, creativity and growth. Where dreams and ideas have a chance to exist, being almost ready and thought out to shape future times to come -  and many party nights.

Starting a residency at Klubd in Nicosia at the age of 23, Alex affected the electronic scene in Cyprus. Since 2013, he has been a resident at the renowned Berlin underground daytime party, STAUB—a space recognized for its sense of community and diverse electronic music offerings. Alex’s career features performances at iconic venues such as Tresor, Gare Porto, and Kantine am Berghain.
Capparis Spinosa is the imprint he founded in 2017 to present his music, including exclusive collaborations and remixes. His releases on Claudio PRC’s label “12” and the consistently dancefloor-appropriate release on Maeve exemplify the artist’s commitment to expression over confinement. The Paludose Canter EP showcases his profound and emotive dancefloor expressions traveling across various moods.

For this week's episode of "Delayed with..." Alex Tomb created a peak-time techno journey that bursts with energy, driven by thumping kick drums and sharp percussion. If you need a companion for your next workout, this mix will do the trick.

Josephine’s Soundscapes is José Salas, an audiovisual creator, art director, and active promoter of alternative culture in Madrid. In his musical endeavors, he functions as a DJ, radio host, promoter, and programmer in clubs and institutions, as well as in projects of various kinds. He works partly through his independent promoter cell, a_mal_gam_a, together with Diskoan, and partly alone or as part of other projects such as CALMA, Temple at Espacio Perpendicular, or Radio Relativa, among others.

Josephine' Soundscapes 'Vanishing Point'  x Oslated.

Since the death of Phill Niblock last January, I have been completing this selection, using his work as a starting point.

It's an exercise in musical evasion, working like a slide into the void. A composition based on layers of drone music and minimalist compositions, fitted into this small project of mine, the series of mixes titled 'Vanishing Point: Music to Fade Away'. Musical artifacts to stop being there.

I suggest conducting the listening exercise in the best possible conditions, taking a break from everything else, alone or in good company, with the volume up, allowing your mind to drift.

Hangover offers four tracks of deep, techy, and enveloping soundscapes that demand your attention. The productions are powerful and attention grabbing. The tension between beauty and abstract sound creating is fascinating in the least.

'Gloomy Avenue' opens the collection with swirling chords over a strong, purposeful beat. The busy atmosphere, enhanced by crackling sound effects, creates an audio analogy of looking through old photos. This dominant, dub techno opus sets a compelling tone for the rest of the album. The title track, 'Hangover,' features a hazy yet very crisp program in its own way. Energetic and swirling sounds blend with deep bass notes to form an ominous mood and cavernous atmosphere. It's a standout piece that captivates with its depth and precision. 'Nocturne' introduces a pulsating beat with chords that morph around it, creating an environment of uncertainty. The track's evolving nature keeps listeners on edge, making it an engaging and unpredictable journey. 'Fused' concludes the album with a powerful beat, a combination of melodic chords, and more intense, purposeful ones. — Doc, this is not good! Why is it so quiet? — Cat asked, looking around warily.
— Pull yourself together and be ready for anything! — Spacelunch tried to keep his cool despite the growing anxiety.

Cautiously, they finally reached their destination and saw a grim sight: on the ground, among ancient stones and half-erased ruins, rested the skeleton of a huge dragon with a glass dodecahedron clutched in its paw. A dim light shone through the thick tree crowns, creating ominous shadows dancing around it. Nomad, sensing the tension of the moment, slowly reached out and gently took the artefact. Its surface was cold and smooth, covered in strange, barely visible symbols.
— We did it! — the victorious voice echoed off the walls, filling the space with a sense of triumph.

But then something strange happened. A bright glow flashed around Nomad. Before anyone could react, he was pulled into a portal that appeared out of nowhere.
— Nomad! — Cat shouted, rushing toward the vanishing point.
— Don't waste time! To understand what’s happened, we will need to get back to the ship and analyse the portal trail!
