Philipp Karl A.K.A “Spellcast” was born 1992 in Würzburg, Germany and had always shared a strong connection with the melodious world of music. Phil developed the love for electronic music in his early age from his cousin and this love & admiration for music gradually transitioned into his passion. His early influences came from the musical work of artists such as Kai Tracid, Scooter, Paul Van Dyk, Armin Van Buuren and ATB. Embracing his love for music, Phil spend a majority of his youth listening to Hardcore, Metal, Hip Hop and Rap. Though, the genre of electronic music always had a sacred place in his heart.
Phil’s journey as a musical artist began in the year 2007 from a metal band called “Swallow Regret”. He played bass for the band up till 2009 and since then Phil has played the instruments of guitar & keyboard in his free time. In the year 2010, he started producing music as a hobby with FL Studio 8. In his early days as a producer, Phil produced briefly with Cubase and Ableton Live before ultimately moving back to FL Studio and currently producing music with FL Studio 20. He loves writing his own lyrics and is a true philosopher from heart & mind whose aim had always been to deliver the true message in a melodic philosophical manner. Learning the art of producing electronic music, he began experimenting with the genres of Trance & Deep House. Since early 2017, Philipp Karl had been producing music under the pseudonym “Spellcast” and has already released 17 singles and an EP called “Eternal Night”. Phil’s goal is to reach out to the heart & soul of many more musical enthusiasts. Motivated & inspired by the drive to enhance his musical knowledge, Phil is always in awe of opportunities to innovate and revolutionize his own music. I've been a true drum and bass fan since 2000, and I owe it all to the Db Higher Education of Drum & Bass, DB-10, LTJ Bukem Progression Sessions with MC Conrad, and the selling point for life when I knew I was a dnb head was hearing Dimensional Entity by Future prophecies (Teebee remix) when a good friend played it on vinyl.
