I really love the constantly changing guitar tones and parts. Really Cobain sounding vocals but cleaner if that makes sense. Instanttly fell in love with the hands on genuinity and whoever your guitarist is is amazing.

Held Down is nautical themed audio experience based on the myths and legends that surround maritime adventures on the high seas. 

In the verse you'll find a narrative that is loosely descriptive of a voyage made by a galleon. In the story the crew survives storms, cannon fire and encounters with famed sea creatures. 

Instrumentally the track has been crafted to give the feeling of being at sea, it includes some great sampling work, which at times, creates an almost cinematic sound scape, you can hear guitars imitate the sounds of submarine radars and how the chorus itself was designed to mimic the feeling of sea sickness. 

SDR themselves we're very excited to announce the involvement of local hero 'Mat Hume' who is featuring on the track as a crusty seas captain who has gone mad, a fact that will no doubt draw a lot of attention to the song on a regional level.  Mat Hume has said of working with SDR: "Bands like SDR are more punk than punk." and "I have been nearly 20 years in music and I can honestly say I am as proud of this song as any I have ever worked on. Hats off to SDR who aren't walking the walk, they're fucking teaching everyone else how to walk the walk too."

Lead singer Sam Christie added "I think Mat Hume's involvement is an exciting prospect as many people know the man as a promoter but haven't heard any of his work, there is a timeless vault of great tracks there that people are not aware of because the guy isn't the type of person to advertise the fact. His vocal is huge on this piece of music"

The band have had a fantastic year together. Taking an obscure side project from strength to strength and are really enthralled by what 2014 will bring. There are rumours of an E.P that is already in production and numerous collaborations with other artists. Make sure you bag yourself this FREE DOWNLOAD and play it loud as it was intended.
