In April of 2008, we at Sub Pop Records had the good fortune to release the US version of Antidotes, the debut album by Oxford, UK quintet Foals. Antidotes was a special album. Two years on from that impressive introduction, a choice has been made–-rather than contort Antidotes’ lithesome guitars into ever more elaborate patterns, Total Life Forever is the sound of a band settling into and surveying the decay of old protocols. With this new album, Foals strip their sound back and turn themselves inside out searching for that invisible human thing. The result is an album as persuasive emotionally as Antidotes  was physically. Whereas that album constantly reinforced its own presence by filling the air with yelping and polyrhythm, tracks on Total Life Forever such as disarming opener “Blue Blood,” “2 Trees” and the astonishing “Black Gold” are happier to leave gaps for the listener to explore in mind’s ear and eye. Written primarily in the basement of their Oxford HQ (“The House of Supreme Mathematics”) and recorded in Gothenburg with former Clor man Luke Smith, Total Life Forever finds Foals singing rather than shouting, emotional as well as functional. The band’s soul-search reveals new antidotes found in infinite, internal spaces rather than carved violently upon the air–-Total Life Forever feels more the work of artists than artisans. It’s a triumph that they’ve managed to remain a band of progress and propulsion while investigating that vast, dark space lurking inside themselves-–that gap between ribs where “nature, or god or whatever you wanna call it, will come in.”

Retrieved from the archives, the grandiosely named God was the collaboration between Steven Wilson and singer and multi-instrumentalist Ford, who wrote and recorded on and off in the late 80's and early 90's, taking their cue from a shared love of the new wave pop of artists such as Talking Heads, Japan and Magazine.  While Steven Wilson was soon on a path to having a long-term career with No-Man and Porcupine Tree, and Ford moved into the world of acting, God never got around to making a record or playing any shows at the time.  But now three gems from their small but perfectly formed oeuvre (two from 1993 and one from their very first recording session in 1987) have been rescued and remastered and will be released by ToneFloat on Panic Underneath the Arches 12inch EP on September 27, in a strictly limited edition of 333 numbered copies on marbled vinyl and 666 numbered copies on black vinyl. Current Affairs are a post punk band from Glasgow, neatly navigating the line between new wave and goth. Formed in 2016 and Comprising Joan (ex-The Royal We/Seconds/Rose McDowall's band), Seb (ex-Anxiety/Pissy), Josh (The Downs/Kaspar Hauser/ex-Rose McDowall's band) and Andrew (Shopping/As Ondas).
  
A cassette called Object was released along the way on Comodillo Tapes and in December 2018 the band’s first 7” Breeding Feeling -bw- Draw The Line was put out into the world by Not Unloved, followed in June 2019 by Buckle Up -bw- World’s In Crisis, out via Berlin’s Dot Dot Dot (...).

Object & Subject is the accumulation of the band’s output over 3 years (excluding the Dot Dot Dot release), now gathered and synthesised into one convenient disc. “We never agonised over our sound or direction, but worked to our punk strengths and leaned into our pop tendencies collectively. On the cusp of releasing an album and re-imagining our live set up, it feels great to be putting out this overview of what we’ve made so far. “
